He pulled her all the way to the parking lot near the main gates. He had left his car there last night, which proved to be the perfect place for a private confrontation.

She was genuinely terrified to be alone with him right now. He was visibly furious. The dark, storm-warning look on his face made him look dangerous.

She had never seen him like this, and her instincts screamed at her to run.

He wasn't actually angry—he was in agony. Every inch of his chest burned from the sheer emotional whiplash she had put him through. He desperately needed a place to cool down.

Wordlessly, he opened the passenger door, practically shoving her inside, and locked it. He stormed over to the driver's side, ignited the engine, and tore out of the campus lot.

He drove until they hit an empty, secluded street before finally throwing the car into park.

She stared at him cautiously, a look that sent a sharp stab of pain straight through his heart. His jaw tightened as he forced the words out. "Why are you looking at me like that? Am I some monster you need to be afraid of?"

She wanted to tell him no, but her heart was pounding frantically against her ribs. She simply shook her head, fighting the urge to break down in tears.

He let out a heavy, exhausted sigh. Reaching over, he unbuckled both of their seatbelts, and before she even realized what was happening, he hauled her across the console and straight into his lap.

She tumbled forward with a gasp. One strong arm wrapped securely around her waist while the other supported her knees, locking her firmly against his body.

Keeping her pinned, he gently but firmly gripped her chin. His voice was laced with a gritty, desperate frustration. "Tell me exactly why you’re pushing me away. And if your excuse isn't good enough, I'm going to kiss you right here."

Shock widened her eyes. Not only had he just obliterated every physical boundary they had established over the last month, but he had also openly threatened to kiss her.
