"Every single thing Hannah ever told you was a fabricated lie designed to manipulate you," Lawrence confessed, his heart aching with an overwhelming sourness. Looking at her stunned expression, he didn't know how to ease the shock, so he merely stroked her cheek, grounding himself in this surreal, dream-like intimacy. "She did it to plant seeds of doubt, hoping you'd break up with me. If it failed once, she'd try again. She knew that eventually, those little, untraceable lies would fester. Over time, the paranoia would rot our relationship from the inside out until you couldn't take it anymore. And once we destroyed ourselves with constant fighting, she could swoop right in."
