Too Late for Sorry, Mr. Billionaire (Chasing my Wife Back) novel Chapter 129

SATURDAY morning came with a different kind of energy. Not peaceful. Not tense either. Just… deliberate.

Amelia moved around the kitchen with quiet urgency, tying her hair into a loose bun as she checked the pot on the stove. The aroma of spices filled the air, warm and inviting, but her mind was elsewhere— calculating, preparing, anticipating.

Everything had to be right, because today wasn’t just a visit, it was something else entirely.

She reached for a tray when—

“Mummy! Mummyyy!”

Two identical voices rang through the house.

Amelia didn’t need to turn.

A small smile crept onto her lips.

“In the kitchen!” she called.

Moments later, Gabriel and Gaddiel came rushing in, fully dressed, their little sneakers squeaking slightly against the tiled floor.

“Mummy, are we going now?” one of them asked excitedly.

“Daddy said he is coming!” the other added, bouncing slightly.

Amelia turned to face them, placing her hands on her hips.

“Slow down, both of you,” she said, though her tone was soft. “Who told you you are leaving already?”

“You did!” Gabriel said quickly.

“You called him!” Gaddiel added.

Amelia raised a brow.

“Oh, I did, did I?”

“Yes!” they chorused.

She sighed lightly, shaking her head.

“Alright, yes, I did call your dad,” she admitted. “But that doesn’t mean you should scatter my kitchen before he gets here.”

“We are not scattering anything,” Gabriel protested.

“We are just ready,” Gaddiel added proudly, adjusting his shirt.

Amelia couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped her.

“I can see that,” she said. “Very handsome boys.”

They beamed.

Just then—

“Hi, Mom.”

Hazel’s voice came from the doorway.

Amelia looked up to see her standing there, holding two small bags, a soft smile on her face.

“Well, look at you,” Amelia said warmly. “Already packed?”

Hazel stepped in, placing the bags neatly by the counter.

“Yes, Mom. I packed their things… and mine too.”

Amelia’s brows lifted slightly.

“Yours too?”

Hazel nodded.

“I thought I might stay over the weekend with them… if that is okay?”

Amelia studied her for a brief second, then smiled.

“Of course it’s okay.”

Hazel smiled back, relieved.

The boys immediately turned to her.

“You are coming with us?” Gabriel asked.

“Yes!” Gaddiel added excitedly. “That means we can play games!”

Hazel laughed softly.

“Yes, it does.”

Amelia clapped her hands lightly.

“Alright, everyone, listen,” she said, her tone shifting into that firm, motherly authority.

The boys straightened instantly.

“While you are there, I want good behavior. No fighting, no stubbornness, and no stressing your father.”

“We don’t stress him,” Gabriel muttered.

Amelia gave him a look.

“Gabriel…”

“Okay,” he said quickly.

“And you,” she turned to Hazel, her voice softer but still firm, “keep an eye on them for me.”

“I will, Mom,” Hazel assured.

“Good.”

Amelia wiped her hands on a towel.

“Let’s move to the living room before you all destroy my kitchen.”

The three of them laughed lightly as they followed her out.

They had barely settled when—

*Ding dong.*

The doorbell rang.

Gabriel and Gaddiel jumped up instantly.

“Daddy!” they shouted in unison.

Hazel was already heading for the door.

“I will get it,” she said.

She opened it, and Adrian stepped in, dressed casually, a faint smile on his face.

“Good morning,” he greeted.

“Morning daddy,” Hazel replied politely, giving him a side hug and then stepping aside.

The boys ran straight into him.

“Daddy!”

Adrian laughed, bending slightly to catch them.

“Hey, hey… easy,” he said, pulling them into a quick hug. “You two look ready for a vacation.”

“We are!” one of them said.

“We are staying the weekend! Again!” the other added.

Adrian looked up just as Amelia stepped forward.

“Good morning,” she said calmly.

“Morning, Amelia,” he replied.

There was a brief pause— nothing heavy, nothing dramatic.

Just… distance.

“They have been ready since morning,” Amelia said, gesturing toward the boys.

“I can see that,” Adrian replied with a small smile.

Hazel brought the bags forward.

“I packed everything,” she said.

“Thank you,” Adrian said, taking them.

Amelia crouched slightly, pulling the boys closer.

“Enjoy yourselves, okay?”

“We will!” they said excitedly.

“And behave.”

“We will!” they repeated.
