Linton ignored her, turning to the man beside him.
“Mr. Cole, my apologies,” he said in a cold tone. “Something urgent has come up. Would you mind waiting upstairs for a moment? I’ll be right there.”
Mr. Cole was a seasoned veteran. He played dumb with a cheerful smile. “Not a problem, Mr. Cooper. You go ahead and take care of your business. I’m in no rush.”
Linton gave a curt nod, his sharp gaze locked on Liliana as he started toward her.
Isabella quickly grabbed his arm. “Brother, I’ll go with…”
Linton stopped, looking back at her coolly.
“Didn’t you say you came along to learn?” he challenged. “This is a good opportunity. Go upstairs and keep Mr. Cole company. Consider it practice.”
Isabella’s fingers went slack. She hadn't expected her excuse for tagging along to backfire so spectacularly.
Liliana, for her part, paid no mind to the commotion at the entrance.
She had gathered her things and was walking toward the door with Aiden.
Just as they reached the carpeted exit and a valet was respectfully pulling the large door open for them, a powerful, warm hand clamped down on her wrist. With a forceful tug, she was yanked backward, stumbling straight into a man's chest.
Before she could react, Linton's arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a tight, possessive embrace.
To any onlooker, they would have looked like an incredibly intimate couple. Liliana looked up at him, shocked, her brow furrowed in anger.
“Linton, what the hell are you doing now?” she hissed, trying to keep her voice down and avoid a public scene.
“Aiden,” she said, her voice firm, “let's go.”
She was done talking to Linton. She treated him like he was invisible, not even bothering to spare him a glance as she tried to wrench herself free from his grip. But he wouldn't budge.
Linton’s face was a cold mask, his arm tightening around her. He lowered his head until his sharp chin rested on the crown of her hair, his cool, magnetic voice murmuring in her ear.
“Alright, Liliana, don’t be angry. Be good now, just come home with me.”
“Good?” Liliana finally snapped.
Her temper flared, and all thoughts of maintaining her composure vanished. She stomped her heel down hard on Linton’s polished black shoe and sneered,
“Get your filthy hands off me. Do you think this is funny?”
