Regret?
Isabella froze for a second, her gaze darkening. A cryptic smile slowly formed on her lips, and she let out a cold laugh.
"What's done is done. What's the use of talking about regret now?"
She was still as unrepentant as ever.
Liliana watched her with a calm, indifferent expression. She hadn't expected anything different.
Liliana said, "You didn't finish reading what was on Matthew's computer, did you?"
Isabella was startled. She shot Liliana a wary glare, her teeth clenched in resentment. "What are you talking about?"
Liliana met her gaze, paused for a moment, and then a strange smile touched her lips. "If you had read everything on Matthew's computer, you wouldn't be so certain that you were the one who masterminded his murder."
Isabella was stunned again.
She stared blankly at the impeccably cared-for woman before her, a terrible premonition rising in her chest. She gritted her teeth, forcing herself to sound composed.
"What, was I, his lawfully wedded wife, supposed to endure the agony of reading a diary detailing my husband's secret love and devotion to another woman?"
"Liliana, don't you think that's a bit cruel?"
Isabella's sarcastic tone was laced with a sourness, as if she'd bitten into a lemon. Along with her jealousy and bitterness, she seemed on the verge of a breakdown.
Suddenly, she became hysterical. Her eyes turned bloodshot as she gasped for air, slammed her hand on the table, and roared.
"Yes, he loved you! Are you happy now? My husband, the man who swore he loved me, who asked me to marry him, who whispered sweet nothings and promised me a home..."
"It was all a lie! All of it! He was lying! He never loved me, he loved you!"
"Are you satisfied? Does that make you proud? Liliana, what are you even doing here today? Did you come to flaunt the fact that his most treasured possession was the coming-of-age gift you gave him?! Is that it?!"
