Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 409

Liliana returned to the car alone. Gabriel was waiting for her, standing quietly by the vehicle.

His tall frame was leaned casually against the car door, hands shoved in his pockets. When he saw Liliana walking out by herself, his brow furrowed deeply.

Without hesitation, Gabriel strode forward to help her, his cool voice softening. "Liliana, why are you out here alone?"

Liliana lowered her lashes, her eyes flickering. She pressed her lips together, her voice calm and unreadable.

"I told him to leave."

Gabriel's brow furrowed slightly. "You told him to leave, and he just left?"

That didn't seem right.

Linton was a persistent leech, a man with skin as thick as armor who was impossible to drive away.

How could he possibly listen so obediently? One word from Liliana and he just turned and left?

Liliana paused for a moment before adding, "He left crying."

Gabriel was silent.

Ah. That made more sense.

A subtle look of understanding crossed Gabriel's cool expression. He coaxed her gently.

"Alright, how was the check-up? I'll drive you home."

Liliana calmly got into the car with Gabriel.

She rested her chin on her hand, staring blankly out the window, her expression suddenly distant and lost.

Linton was really gone.

And she was the one who had driven him away.

Her words had been merciless. After a fight like that, there was basically no chance of reconciliation.

Not unless the dead could come back to life.

But that was impossible.

The winter air grew colder, and heavy snowflakes began to drift down from the sky, soon covering him in a blanket of white, burying him until he looked like a snowman.

The snow melted into icy droplets, trickling down his long neck and seeping into his clothes, a biting cold that spread through his entire body, leaving him chilled to the bone.

Linton stared downward, his eyes red-rimmed and unblinking. He sat in silence, clutching the roses and the teddy bear, from daytime until the sky turned black.

Finally, the hospital security guard, who had been watching him with growing concern, could no longer hold back and approached him.

"Sir, excuse me… do you need any help?"

Linton's lashes fluttered. After sitting in the snow all day, his body was stiff and numb with cold.

His face was ashen, like a ghost, completely drained of color. His lips moved, and after a long moment, he managed to find his voice.

"No…"

His voice was hoarse and broken, as if forced from his throat. It was so soft and trembling that the guard could barely hear him.

The guard frowned deeply, his face etched with worry. The man clearly did not look fine.
