Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 435

Liliana held the baby carefully, not daring to move. Her palms were sweating with nervousness.

Linton watched her with a gentle gaze, a faint smile playing on his lips. He couldn't help but tease her. "I was the same way the first time. You'll get used to it."

"Liliana, we…"

Liliana cut him off coolly. "Don't say 'we.' It's just me and the baby."

She emphasized the point deliberately. There was a line in her heart she couldn't cross, a reason she could never forgive Linton.

It had nothing to do with feelings anymore.

Between them, there was a life.

Linton fell silent.

A sharp pain pierced his chest, and he tasted something metallic in his throat. He pressed his lips together, a bitter smile forming. "No, I was just going to say, I won't bother you and the baby in the future. Don't worry."

What Linton had wanted to say was that he hoped they could have one last meal together before he left, a farewell dinner to hold onto as a memory.

When you're all alone, sometimes memories are the only thing that give you the courage to keep going.

If he wasn't even allowed to have a single good memory, then there was truly no point in living.

But he didn't dare to say it.

Liliana's attitude was perfectly clear. She wouldn't agree.

A sharp pain lanced through him as he breathed. He lowered his gaze, his handsome face turning pale. He looked as if he might collapse, appearing surprisingly fragile.

Liliana didn't look at him. She lowered her head to coo at the baby, her voice gentle and loving. "Amelia, Mommy's taking you home."

Linton followed a step behind them, mother and daughter.

Mrs. Hart saw his pitiful state and couldn't bear it. She forced a smile, trying to break the awkward tension, and tentatively suggested, "Liliana, the baby is a month old now. The welcome party will be here before we know it."

"Are you… are you trying to insult me with money now?"

The pain was so intense Linton could barely speak.

The man's hoarse, broken voice sounded as if it were being squeezed from his throat. He forced a bitter smile, as if he'd swallowed poison.

"Everything I did for the baby… I was sincere. I never once thought that taking care of you or the baby was a burden."

"Liliana, you can hate me. You have every right not to forgive me. I have nothing to say to that. I brought this all on myself. I accept that. I always have. But…"

"Please, at the very least… don't use money to trample on and insult my feelings. Okay? I'm begging you. It's the last thing I have left to hold on to."

Liliana was speechless.

She opened her mouth, frowning deeply. "No, I didn't…" That's not what she meant.
