Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 457

“Mr. Grayson, you were just a child. The people who should feel guilty are others, not you.”

Liliana patted his shoulder gently. “Your mother and your brother are waiting for you to come home. And Logan, too.”

“No matter how he came into this world, he’s still your son, right? And you love him very much.”

Matthew’s gentle eyes flickered. He pressed his lips together and said, “Liliana.”

“Just let me rest for a while. It’s been so long. I really just want to rest.”

“The scenery in Solmere City is beautiful, and the air is so fresh. It’s the perfect place to recover.”

Matthew’s gaze drifted into the distance. A thought occurred to him, and he added warmly, “Liliana, if you ever feel tired, you can come rest in Solmere City, too.”

Liliana understood he was trying to comfort her, encouraging her to move on from the shadow of Linton’s death.

She lowered her eyes and said softly, “Thank you for the offer, Mr. Grayson.”

“But I have a lot to do in Crownport, and Amelia is waiting for me to come back… Oh, right, Amelia is my and Linton’s daughter. I guess that makes her your little niece.”

Liliana took out her phone, pulled up a photo of Amelia Hart, and her expression immediately softened. She shared it with Matthew, saying, “Look, this is my baby girl. Isn’t she adorable?”

Matthew looked at the picture, a slow smile spreading across his face. He praised her sincerely, “She’s very cute. She has your features from when you were little, but her eyes and the shape of her face are all Linton.”

“Has she had her welcoming party yet? I’ll come back to Crownport for it. I have to be there for my little niece’s big day.”

They began to talk about the future.

Basking together in the warm sunlight, they looked at each other and saw a reflection of their own once-shattered souls, and the courage they had both found to become strong again.

No matter what, the living always had to find a way to move forward.

At the birthday party, Gabriel Hart stood tall and elegant beside Liliana, his arm linked with hers as he helped fend off men who tried to approach her.

He gave her a helpless look. “You should just find someone new. It would save me the trouble of playing bodyguard every day.”

“I think Matthew is a great guy. His leg is an issue, but he’s a good person. If not him, what about his brother? He seems decent enough.”

Liliana was speechless.

She was wearing a dark green evening gown with a simple, off-the-shoulder design. The cinched waist accentuated her slender figure. Simply standing there, she was a breathtaking sight, like a beautiful woman who had stepped out of an oil painting.

She held onto Gabriel’s arm, took a delicate sip of champagne, and smiled. “Stop teasing me, Gabriel. You know I’m not going to date again.”

Gabriel raised an eyebrow. “Don’t be so sure. You’ve got a long life ahead of you. You’re not planning on staying single for his memory forever, are you?”
