Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 52

"If you want one, you could just ask him to open one for you, too."

Isabella watched her with a gentle smile, completely unruffled.

Sebastian chimed in, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Yeah, exactly. Look at Isabella's qualifications, and then look at yours. You're clueless about business, let alone running a company. You'd just screw it up, and Linton would have to clean up your mess!"

Liliana glanced down at the glass in her hand and smiled. "What a coincidence. My brother just opened a jewelry design company for me too."

"What do you mean by that?" Sebastian froze.

Liliana raised her cold eyes. "Was I not clear? I couldn't care less about Linton's company. He can give it to whoever he wants. What's it got to do with me?"

Sebastian stared at her in surprise, then burst out laughing, clutching his stomach. "Hahaha, a company? For you? Don't let it go bankrupt on its first day!"

Liliana wasn't annoyed in the slightest. She simply smiled. "Still, I doubt I could top Mr. Kingsley. Your family gave you a company to practice with, and you ran it into the ground in less than a month, racking up three hundred million in debt."

"I heard you didn't dare tell your family the truth and have them pay it off. Instead, you went to the Azure Bay Casino, begging to work as a gofer for the loan sharks. They made you be a toy boy for some rich old ladies, right? How long was that, three months?"

Sebastian's face changed dramatically.

He had kept that a secret. How could Liliana possibly know?

Liliana's smile widened, her eyes glinting with faint mockery. "So, Sebastian, how did it feel? A young master, bankrupt and unable to pay his debts, reduced to serving rich women in Azure Bay. You must have had a great time."

"Liliana!"

Sebastian's face turned beet red. He glared at her, his eyes practically bulging with a murderous rage.

The more he thought about it, the more he hated her. Gritting his teeth, he raised his hand to slap her.

Liliana didn't flinch. Just as she was about to dodge, a familiar, cool voice cut through the air.

"Stop!"

Sebastian froze, looking at Linton in disbelief.

Was Linton… actually standing up for Liliana?

That couldn't be right. He and their other friends had mocked Liliana in front of Linton plenty of times. She'd always just taken it with a forced smile, and Linton had never said a word.

Why was he acting so differently today?

Liliana's face was blank. She struggled out of Linton's arms and said, "Mr. Cooper, keep your hands to yourself. It's inappropriate."

"What would my future boyfriend think if he saw this? Don't I have a reputation to maintain?"

Linton's face clouded over instantly. He let out a soft, humorless laugh. "Liliana, don't talk nonsense."

"You are my fiancée. I'd like to see who has the guts to try and take what's mine."
