Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 64

Linton was trying to change the subject, refusing to face reality.

But Liliana was determined to make him. "Isabella's son calls you 'daddy.'"

Linton froze.

Then a low chuckle escaped him. The suffocating tightness in his chest finally eased a little. So that was it. The little girl was just throwing a tantrum, jealous and angry with him. Just like all the other times. This time she was just angrier, the tantrum bigger, lasting longer.

He'd just have to coax her a bit more.

It was fine.

The fingers gripping Liliana's wrist trembled uncontrollably. Linton reassured himself, *It’s just like before. I can always win her back.*

He turned, reaching up to stroke her hair, intending to pull her into his arms.

"Oh, Liliana. So that's what this is about. You're upset the boy calls me 'daddy.'"

"He's just a child, he doesn't know any better. It's a habit he picked up."

Linton murmured soothingly, "It's my fault, really. I'll talk to Isabella, have her teach him properly."

Liliana dodged his hand and tilted her head back with a derisive laugh. "Is this really about a habit that's hard to break?"

"I'm asking you *why* he calls you 'daddy.'"

She looked up at him, not shouting, not crying. Her beautiful eyes were devoid of any emotion, her voice frighteningly calm. "He never should have called you that in the first place. If you had any intention of correcting him, you would have done it the very first time, not let it become a habit and only promise to fix it after I call you out."

Liliana paused, then smiled. "Linton, have you ever heard the saying?"

"Liliana…"

Linton's face was ashen. His eyes were bloodshot as he stared at her, his grip on her wrist tightening again, as if terrified that if he let go, she would vanish from before his eyes. His voice was raw and deep. "Don't say that."

"Then what should I say?"

Liliana wrenched her wrist from his grasp. She looked at him, her face impassive, her voice laced with ice. "You don't listen to anything I say, you only hear what you want to hear. In that case, I have nothing more to say to you."

"Whether you agree or not, this is my final notice."

She paused, her expression calm, but her tone was firm and resolute. "Tomorrow, I am posting a statement online, announcing the end of our engagement."

"This is not up for discussion."
