Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 68

She found the entire situation laughable.

"Who are you putting on this show for?"

Linton's voice caught in his throat. He went silent, and after a long moment without a response, Liliana hung up without another word.

She glanced at her calendar. Tomorrow, she had a flight to another city for her procedure. At a critical time like this, she had no energy to waste on Linton's games. Once the abortion was done, she would deal with him. He was a dead man walking.

The next day, Liliana woke up early. Not because her flight was early, but because that bastard Linton had infuriated her so much she couldn't sleep.

Helena, who was accompanying her, noticed the dark circles under her best friend's eyes.

"Liliana, are you nervous? Is that why you couldn't sleep?" she asked, concerned. "Don't be scared, okay? I'm right here with you."

Helena squeezed her hand, assuming her friend was terrified about her first abortion.

Liliana just snorted and told her what had happened at midnight.

After hearing the story, Helena slapped her thigh in indignation. "That bastard! He's not a man, he's an animal! To do something so shameless… that's like backing you into a corner with no way out."

Liliana was just as frustrated. She took a deep breath to control her temper, clutching her plane ticket as they sat in the waiting area. The minutes ticked by.

Her flight was at 2 PM. An announcement echoed through the terminal.

"Liliana, that's us," Helena said.

Liliana took another small breath, a flicker of emotion in her clear eyes. "Let's go."

She squeezed Liliana's cold hands and forced a smile. "Hey, you can have another baby someday. It's not like Linton is the only man in the world."

Liliana looked up, her red-rimmed eyes filled with gratitude.

The two of them stood up to head to the gate. Another boarding announcement sounded. As they waited in line, Liliana's phone rang. The caller ID showed 'Mom.'

"It's your mom," Helena pointed out.

Liliana wasn't concerned. She had told her mother she was going on a trip with her best friend to relax. Assuming it was a call to wish her a safe trip, she answered.

"Liliana!"

Mrs. Hart's frantic voice came through the phone, thick with tears. "Come back, quickly! Old Mr. Cooper had a sudden heart attack! He's been rushed to the hospital, and they've issued a critical condition notice! He wants to see you one last time!"
