Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 85

While Liliana was busy setting up her company, Crownport was preparing to host a major runway show. The guest list was a who’s who of the fashion world, featuring industry titans and high-society figures from across the globe.

Liliana planned to attend with Aiden, hoping to scout some talented young designers for her new venture.

That Saturday, she arrived at the venue with Helena.

Ever since she found out about Liliana’s decision to keep the baby, Helena had been a nervous wreck. She spent all her free time hovering around Liliana, even offering to move in with her to help out.

As they stood on the red carpet at the entrance, preparing to go inside, Helena linked her arm through Liliana’s and lowered her voice.

“Liliana, are you really not going to tell Mrs. Hart and your family about the baby? I feel like this is too big to keep to yourself. Even if you don’t want that bastard Linton to know, your family should. They’re going to find out eventually, once the baby is born.”

She had a point, but Liliana still hadn’t figured out how to break the news.

“Do you really think my parents would let me break off the engagement if they knew I was pregnant with Linton’s child?” Liliana asked, hesitating.

Her parents were traditional, conservative people. She was afraid that if they knew, they would pressure her to marry Linton immediately.

“I think it’s better to wait. Once Linton finally agrees to end the engagement, I’ll tell them. It’s safer that way.”

Helena considered it and nodded. “Alright, then. I’ll take care of you until then.”

“Helena, thank you.” Liliana’s eyes filled with gratitude.

He had been looking everywhere but couldn’t spot Liliana’s familiar, lovely figure.

After their explosive argument at the Hart’s house last night, Linton knew Liliana would be avoiding him. She wasn’t answering his calls or replying to his texts, shutting him out completely.

He had been wracking his brain for an excuse to stage a “chance encounter” to try and win her back when Isabella had come to him. She’d told him about the runway show, suggesting that since Liliana was starting a design company, she would definitely be there to scout for talent.

Without a second thought, he had come along with Isabella, clinging to the slim hope that he might be able to catch his prickly little porcupine.

Linton lowered his gaze, his voice cool. “Sorry, did you say something just now?”

Isabella saw that his attention was elsewhere, a forced smile playing on her lips. “It’s nothing,” she said softly.
