Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 90

That bastard had taken Isabella’s side more times than she could count, telling her to be more gracious and to stop being so petty.

The memory made Liliana’s blood boil.

But she wasn’t angry anymore.

She smiled, but her eyes were ice-cold. “I wonder if Matthew, may he rest in peace, would regret marrying you.”

“What are you trying to say?” Isabella’s guard immediately went up, her demeanor shifting from composed to agitated. The gentle mask she wore cracked, revealing an ugly expression beneath.

Liliana just smiled and said nothing.

She turned to leave, tossing one last, cryptic sentence over her shoulder.

“Matthew truly did love you.”

“It’s a shame…”

“He married the wrong woman.”

As Liliana sat watching the runway show, her mind drifted. She found herself thinking of Matthew’s bright, handsome smile.

Of all Linton’s friends, Matthew was the only one who had ever been kind to her. That’s why she remembered him so vividly.

Many of Linton’s other friends were just sycophants who loved to look down on others. They took their cues from Linton, and since he was often cold to her, they treated her with disdain, joining Isabella in mocking and belittling her.

Only Matthew, time and time again when she was hurt or being bullied, would comfort her with a gentle smile.

“Liliana, don’t overthink it. Linton does love you. He’s just young and confused right now, a little conflicted.”

“Once he figures things out, you two will be fine.”

“Once we have everything ready, we can design the first collection and aim for a launch before fall. Then the company will be officially open for business.”

Aiden’s smile was warm, his clear eyes softening behind his glasses. “Sounds good. We can meet at the office sometime to discuss the design theme.”

In the end, Liliana picked several new designers to sign. She turned down Aiden’s offer to drive her home, since Helena had brought her.

She and Helena said their goodbyes to Aiden at the entrance and walked arm in arm toward the parking garage.

As her eyes swept across the lot, they landed on a tall figure, and she froze.

“Liliana, what’s wrong?” Helena asked.

Liliana’s expression was complicated. She hesitated before saying, “That man over there…”

“Helena, I think I just saw Matthew.”
