Too Late Mr. White! I'm Married To Your Rival Now novel Chapter 142

Aria's POV

The family doctor arrived surprisingly quickly. Mrs. Li's pasta was still steaming hot and fragrant, and I hadn't even had a chance to taste it when the doorbell rang.

"Ma'am, I'll get the door. Don't you dare move!" Mrs. Li turned off the heat and rushed out like a whirlwind to answer it.

Soon, Mrs. Li led in a middle-aged man wearing glasses.

"Good day, ma'am. I'm David Smith, the family physician," he introduced himself politely.

"Hello," I nodded in response.

"Mr. Aiden told me you injured your left knee. May I take a look?"

I somewhat embarrassedly rolled up my pant leg again. The bruise was deeper than before, looking like a terrible ink stain spreading across my skin.

David put on white gloves. "Could you please straighten your leg?"

He examined it carefully, gently touching the injured area and observing my reactions. Finally, he confirmed it was only soft tissue contusion without bone damage, prescribed a spray, and didn't even give me oral medication.

"Spray this on, and the pain should ease in a day or two."

This was my first time experiencing house call medical service. Lillian was absolutely right—being rich was fucking amazing! One phone call and the doctor came running right to your door.

The news that Aiden had specially rushed back from his business trip to spend Valentine's Day with me exploded in our social circle. Some were envious, some jealous, with all kinds of reactions flooding social media platforms.

This news naturally reached Liam. That bastard who had fled at our wedding, originally unwilling to get engaged to Sofia no matter what, saw our social media posts and the very next day eagerly contacted Sofia, agreeing to the engagement.

The White and Clark families quickly arranged a meeting, and news of their engagement spread rapidly.

"I'm telling you," Lillian said to me angrily, "that bitch Sofia will definitely invite you to her engagement party! She just loves rubbing salt in your wounds!"

I sneered: "Just because she invites me doesn't mean I have to go. Who does she think she is?"

"That's true," Lillian frowned, "but if you don't go, those sour bitches will gossip behind your back, saying you're too scared to face your ex."

I thought about it: "You're right. We'll see then. If she dares invite me, I dare to go!"

A few days after Valentine's Day was Julian's concert. Although my leg was injured, my hands were fine, so I spent almost all my time practicing in the piano room these past few days.

Two days before the concert, Aiden finally returned from his business trip. The first thing he did was check my knee. I sat on the sofa, watching him bend down, my face involuntarily heating up.

The bruise on my knee hadn't completely faded, but it was much better than when I first got injured. At least walking was no problem now—it only hurt when pressed.

"It really doesn't hurt anymore," I tried to convince him.

The moment I finished speaking, his thumb suddenly pressed gently on the injured spot.

"Hiss—" I gasped unexpectedly.

Aiden looked up, his deep eyes staring directly at me: "Didn't you say it doesn't hurt anymore?"

"It doesn't hurt when not touched," I mumbled embarrassedly in a small voice.

"So it still hurts." His tone was calm as he pulled down my pant leg.

The atmosphere suddenly became somewhat awkward. He obviously wanted to get closer to me but seemed worried about hurting my leg. I could feel that restraint and desire intertwining in his eyes.

To ease the awkwardness, I tentatively asked: "Are you hungry? Want something to eat?"

Aiden glanced at me, his gaze falling on my knee: "Not hungry."

Although he only said two words, I read more meaning in his eyes. God, his gaze could practically melt a person.

What a pity my leg injury wasn't healed yet, otherwise I definitely wouldn't be able to resist pouncing on him.

"......" Just as I was thinking about how to respond, he suddenly took out an exquisite box from his pocket.

"A business trip gift."

It was a box of mango candies. I took it, feeling incredibly touched: "Thank you."
