Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 245

As soon as people realized Richard was hurt, everyone was shocked.

They all turned to Lucas, shooting him looks full of blame and disgust.

"Mr. Westwood, that's a cheap shot—backstabbing people like that!”

someone snapped, their voice dripping with contempt.

Seriously, targeting a woman with a whole champagne tower? That was beyond messed up.

Lucas saw Sophia in Richard's arms.

A bunch of little details suddenly started adding up in his mind.

That day in Ginkgo Town, Richard had run out into the mountains through pouring rain just to look for Sophia.

Lucas thought, 'For someone like him, unless he is really in love, there's no way he'd risk his own neck like that.

"It's him, isn't it?" Lucas cried out, his voice trembling with both anger and disbelief.

He pointed straight at Richard, demanding of Sophia, "Is he the one you really love?"

Sophia didn't even spare Lucas another glance. She said to Richard, "You're hurt—hospital, now."

With Sophia helping him toward the exit, Richard turned and shot Lucas a frosty stare before heading out of the party hall.

The host of the party hurried over, practically falling over himself to apologize.

Richard getting hurt at his own event left the host wracked with guilt.

He personally escorted Sophia and Richard out of the hotel, and only after watching them get into the car did he finally dare to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.

With the Sterling and Westwood families both involved, he knew better than to offend either one.

Once Sophia was sure Richard wasn't seriously hurt, she quickly called Annabelle.

They'd left in such a rush that they'd totally forgotten to let Annabelle know what was going on.

When Annabelle picked up, she said, "Sophie, just take care of Uncle Richard. I've got the party hall situation handled—don't worry about a thing."

‘Just let her keep looking at me, worrying about me, caring about me. | want her focus—all her thoughts to be about me, not letting anything or anyone steal that away:

Sophia had no idea where Richard was hurt. She asked, "Why did you jump in front of me like that?"

She was built tough—even if the champagne tower had crashed into her, it wouldn't have fazed her.

Richard watched her quietly, his gaze gentle yet intense.

Even in a moment like this, he still found time to flirt with her.

"So, am | really making you that nervous?" he teased, playful amusement flickering in his eyes.

Sophia couldn't handle the growing heat in Richard's eyes and had to look away, pretending to be distracted by something outside the window.

Sophia thought, 'Wait, why does it suddenly feel so tense in here?’

“You got hurt saving me—of course | care! I'm not the kind of person who forgets when someone's good to me,’ Sophia retorted, a bit awkward but still sounding stubborn.

She did her best to play it cool, but under Richard's intense gaze, the whole vibe got all weird—like the air turned heavy and sticky, yet somehow thin enough to make breathing feel awkward.
