Owen Lance draped his uninjured arm over Mira Mercer's shoulders. "My lady, it's raining. Perfect weather to stay in bed."
Mira shot him a sideways glance. "We still have to eat. Aren't you hungry?"
"Yeah, a little, but the bed feels so incredibly comfortable right now."
He let out a yawn. "Hungry or not, I really don't want to get up. Stay with me."
Mira ignored him, sitting up on her own and getting ready to climb out of bed.
"My lady, my arm hurts. You better take a look at it for me."
As he spoke, a hint of mischief flashed in his eyes.
Mira rolled her eyes. "Seriously, Owen? It's been thirty hours since you got hurt. Isn't it a little late to start crying about the pain now?"
Master Ellis's premium trauma ointment was top-tier. Not only did it stop bleeding and reduce swelling, but it practically eliminated the pain altogether.
Despite her sharp words, Mira still went over to check his wound. It was time for a dressing change anyway.
After washing and sanitizing her hands, Mira grabbed the ointment, antiseptic cotton, and fresh bandages. She carefully unwrapped the gauze on his arm to inspect it.
The wound looked great, barely showing any signs of inflammation.
Mira meticulously sanitized the area, applied the fresh ointment, and began wrapping it up again, only for him to start muttering under his breath.
"It feels so good to be taken care of by my lady. Taking a bullet was totally worth it."
"Say one more word and I'm leaving you to fend for yourself."
Mira shot Owen a glare. "Get up. We have work to do after we eat."
Only then did Owen reluctantly drag himself out of bed.
After they changed clothes and headed downstairs, they happened to run into Mr. Milton. "I was just about to go up and call you down for food. I know you're exhausted, but you still need to eat, no matter how tired you are."
His attitude was incredibly respectful.
