Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1255

Ethan knew Adrian wouldn't say another word, so he waved for him to step down from the podium.

"Dad, Ms. Quinn looks awful. Why don't the two of you take a seat and rest? I'll handle the rest of this."

Adrian hesitated before muttering, "Fine."

Since the truth was out, he assumed Ethan wouldn't push the issue any further.

But the moment they sat down, Ethan bypassed the microphone and projected the rest of his gathered evidence onto the big screen for everyone to see.

"My god... what kind of father uses his own son as a scapegoat to protect a secretary?"

"I always thought Ms. Quinn and Mrs. Mercer were like sisters. I thought she genuinely cared for Ethan. To think..."

"Ethan would never make a blunder like that anyway. He's never made a single misstep since he joined the company."

"Especially not a rookie mistake like this."

Ethan hadn't originally planned on exposing the rest of the files. The evidence was thin, and he couldn't afford a full-scale war with Adrian just yet.

But Adrian's vague, half-hearted confession forced his hand.

If Ethan hadn't shown the receipts, the room would have assumed the Mercers were just pinning a family scandal on a random secretary.

Now, Adrian and Fiona were stripped of their courage, completely unable to defend themselves. Even if the evidence wasn't ironclad, the crowd bought it hook, line, and sinker.

Seeing his son pull this stunt, Adrian shouted in a panic, "Ethan! I already cleared your name! Why are you showing this?"

But his voice was entirely drowned out by the outraged murmurs of the shareholders.

Ethan walked right up to him. "Why? Are you really that dense, Dad?"

"You stood up there pretending to clear my name, but the way you phrased it deliberately made it sound like Fiona was taking the fall for me."

"I was just doing you a favor by filling in the details."

"What is wrong with you today? It's bad enough you bully your sister, but now you're publicly humiliating Fiona at the office?"

In Lacey's delusional mind, Fiona was her best friend and confidante. As a senior figure who had served the family for twenty years, Fiona deserved Ethan's utmost respect.

"I bullied Fiona? Are you serious?"

Ethan immediately realized his foolish mother had been weaponized against him again.

"Mom, do you even know what happened today? Or are you just screaming at me blindly?"

Him bullying Fiona? What an absolute joke. Fiona and Adrian had literally conspired to destroy him.

Spanning two lifetimes, Ethan was once again experiencing the exact same suffocating injustice Mira had endured.

"I don't need to know the details! I trust your father and I trust Fiona."
