"No need, Minnie. Just focus on your studies. Your dad and I like our life here just fine. Once you get into a good college and find a job to make your own money, then we'll come visit you."
"You won't have to wait that long. Trust me, I'll be making money very soon."
Though Sarah nodded outwardly, deep down, she didn't believe for a second that her daughter would be making money anytime soon.
Moving to Melvion City and spending that wealthy family's money was something they simply couldn't stomach. Beside her, George didn't say a word, just continuously wiped his tears.
Mira gave Ryan a similar speech. "Ryan, wait for me. It won't be long before I bring you to Melvion City for school."
"To Melvion City? You're going to bring me to your billionaire family's estate? No way, they'll never accept me."
Seeing his disbelief, Mira didn't push the issue. Until it became a reality, no one would believe it anyway.
"After I leave, don't forget to practice your martial arts every day. And whatever you do, don't slack on your studies. Look after my parents while you're at it.
"Call me immediately if anything happens."
"Don't worry, Mira. I'll do it."
Ryan tried to play it cool, but the crushing disappointment in his eyes was impossible to hide. He looked like he was about to cry, but he forcefully swallowed the tears back.
With everything at home settled, the three of them went to Mira's school the next morning, finalized the transfer paperwork, and hit the road.
Mira had virtually nothing to pack. She wore the clothes on her back and carried her backpack.
Right as they were walking out the door, Sarah handed Mira a bundle of farm-fresh eggs, carefully wrapped one by one in paper towels. "Minnie, these taste much better than the ones in the city. Take them with you."
"Alright. Thank you, Mom."
Mira accepted them with both hands. She knew Melvion City had no shortage of eggs, and the Mercer family certainly wouldn't care for them, but she took them anyway.
Truthfully, Mira was wearing new clothes. Her foster parents made sure she got a new outfit every year. However, the fabric was a cheap floral print cut in an outdated style.
The car pulled into the familiar driveway of the Mercer villa. No one was waiting at the door in anticipation, so the three simply walked right in.
Mira remembered her past life—when Mara first returned, Lacey had prepared a massive feast in advance. She mobilized the entire family to wait at the front door to greet her. Even Damon and Lucas, who rarely came home, were summoned back.
Mira remembered this clearly, and naturally, Ethan did too.
This proved that in their past life, Lacey’s devotion to Mara had been the result of Adrian’s brainwashing.
But Mira didn't care. After living through three lifetimes, she had long since given up on her biological parents. Thankfully, in this life, she had foster parents who genuinely loved her.
Stepping through the front doors, Ethan immediately turned to Norman. "Where are our parents?"
