Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1326

"Owen, did you... did you actually fall for Mira?"

Sebastian was so flustered his words stumbled out in a rush.

"Where is this even coming from?"

Owen had only met Mira twice. It was impossible for him to be in love with her. Furthermore, the way Sebastian phrased it made Owen feel utterly bewildered.

Forcing himself to calm down, Sebastian realized he had let his anxiety show. But he couldn't help the rising dread in his chest...

"Owen, based on what you just said, how do you know so much about Mira? Are you interested in her?"

"Sebastian, what is going on with you today? You're speaking in riddles and acting paranoid.

"I've only met the girl twice. Why would I be interested in her?"

It was completely ridiculous. Even if he was interested, that was his private life, and his foster father had no right to interrogate him about it.

Without another word, Owen stood up, walked to his car, and drove away without looking back.

"Owen..." Seraphina called after him, then whipped around to glare at her father. "Dad, what did he mean by that?"

Sebastian stared in the direction Owen's car had vanished. "He doesn't want to marry you."

"What? No! I'm going to marry him. I have to marry Owen."

Seraphina grabbed Sebastian's arm, shaking it frantically. "Dad, you have to help me fix this. I am going to marry Owen."

Sebastian clenched his jaw in silent fury. *Mira, are you going to ruin my life in this lifetime too?*

...

Meanwhile, back in Melvion City.

She and Adrian had painstakingly raised Ethan, grooming him into a corporate elite, expecting him to share the burden of the family legacy.

She never imagined Ethan would sever ties with them, taking a massive ten percent of the Mercer Group's shares with him on his way out.

If that wasn't the definition of a traitorous, ungrateful brat, what was?

Since he was a traitor, why should she believe a word he said?

And as for Mira, the newly found daughter, Lacey didn't think she had been particularly biased or cruel toward her.

Yet, out of nowhere, the girl had simply packed up and left, refusing to acknowledge them.

After all this drama, Lacey became even more fiercely protective of Mara. Clearly, the daughter she had raised with her own two hands was the only one who truly loved her.

With Ethan out of the company, Fiona pulled out every trick in the book to charm Adrian, seizing every opportunity to plant her own people and consolidate power. Over the summer, she even arranged for Mara to intern at the company to "build experience."
