Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 141

Mira immediately hung up and called Master Ellis.

“Master, find me two expert bodyguards.”

“When do you need them?”

“As soon as possible. Right now. The commission is negotiable.”

“If you need someone right now, I’ll have Owen help you for the time being. The real experts need to be booked in advance, and there aren’t many in Melvion City. They all have active assignments, and you don’t need the average ones.”

That was true. With her current skills and knowledge of medicine, Mira could handle most situations unless she was outnumbered or facing a top-tier master. The bodyguards were just a precaution.

Mira had anticipated this situation with the Mercer family. Otherwise, why would she have worked so hard to practice her martial arts and study medicine?

“Alright, have Owen come pick me up. And if you have any available bodyguards, even regular ones, bring one along.”

In reality, Master Ellis’s security company was top-of-the-line. Even their “ordinary” guards were far from weak.

“I’m worried they’ll try to use Rachel as leverage.”

“I have some regular guards available. It’s ten thousand a month. Is one enough?”

“I’ll take two.”

If someone needed to go out for groceries, it was best to have one guard remain at home.

Besides, Owen had to recruit people for the new company. He could give her a ride, but he couldn’t be by her side constantly.

After arranging everything, Mira spoke to Rachel. “You heard the call. The Mercers might come after me, and they might try to use you as a hostage.

I’ve hired two bodyguards. From now on, don’t go out shopping alone. Or better yet, just have the bodyguards go for you.

This is some knockout powder. Keep it with you. If you’re in danger, just throw it at them.”

“That Mara is such a menace! Why doesn’t she just drop dead? She’s already caused you to cut ties with your family, and now you have to live in fear. Hiring people is going to cost a fortune.”

Rachel couldn’t help but vent.

Dying now would be letting her off too easy. Mara needed to suffer more, and the Mercer family had to be brought down before she could die.

“Don’t worry, Rachel. I have the money. The only trouble is you’ll have to cook for two more people from now on.”

The injury on Rachel’s arm had already completely healed.

“What’s a little cooking? I used to cook for so many people at the Mercer estate and never felt tired.”
