Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 15

"Mira, your family's drama was the top trending story overnight. MVN Radiowave Network and our campus forum have completely blown up.

Netizens are all condemning that schemer now. Isn't that great?"

"Now, that schemer in your family is a social pariah."

Liora and Celine hovered by Mira's bed, chattering away like two excited songbirds.

This didn't surprise Mira. In her last life, the Mercer family's affairs had also become a trending topic.

Except back then, she was the one being vilified. Now, the tables had turned.

"I have you two to thank for this outcome."

"It's not just us. The guests from last night deserve a lot of credit too.

Everyone is shocked by the level of that schemer's manipulation."

Speaking of which, Liora was so happy she was practically dancing.

"However, your family is already doing damage control. Your Damon's PR department is also trying to suppress the story.

Early this morning, a lot of paid trolls started defending Mara.

But the power of the people is strong. For every one comment they post, a hundred more pop up to refute it. They won't be able to shut it down that easily."

Mira thought back to her past life when she was attacked by public opinion. Not a single person from the Mercer family had stepped in to stop it. It was truly pathetic how little she'd been valued.

As the three of them were talking and laughing, there was a knock on the door. It was Lacey, carrying breakfast.

"Mira, it's time to eat."

"No thanks, I've already eaten."

Mira pointed to the containers. "Liora's mother specially made me chicken soup and oatmeal and brought it over this morning."

Lacey looked at Liora and Celine.

The two quickly said, "We'll go ask the doctor what time you need to take your medicine this afternoon. Call us if you need anything. We won't be far."

Although Liora and Celine felt indignant on their friend's behalf, they knew it wasn't their place to interfere in a conversation between a mother and daughter.

"Actually, Mom wanted to come over sooner…"

"I know. Mara was upset, and you couldn't leave her side, right?"

Mira finished Lacey's sentence for her.
