"So, what does anything involving the Mercer family have to do with me?"
"Forget about a thirty-seven-day detention. Even if she dropped dead right now, what the hell does that have to do with me?"
With that, Mira turned on her heel and walked out behind Owen.
On the drive back, Owen looked at Mira with fond indulgence. "Did you enjoy the show back there?"
"I sure did. Seeing Mara miserable is great, but seeing Adrian furious makes it even better."
Mira replied while unclipping a micro-camera from her chest.
"Don't go running your mouth about me being your boyfriend next time,"
Owen warned her.
"I won't, I promise. I just wanted to use you to piss Mara off."
"If you hate seeing her that much, why not just set a trap and make her disappear?"
"It's not time yet. Ending her now would be letting her off way too easy."
She needed to expose Mara's true colors and let her turn the Mercer family upside down first.
When the dust settled, Mira would use the chaos to sweep up the assets of both the Mercer and Porter families.
Right now, Mira's personal wealth was nowhere near enough to take on two multibillion-dollar empires.
She transferred the footage she had just recorded to her phone via Bluetooth, quickly edited it, and sent it straight to the head of her PR department.
She ordered them to post the entire breakdown of the incident online, along with the pathetic footage of Mara in handcuffs.
As soon as Mira walked through the front door, Rachel asked, "Why are you home so late?"
Mira slipped off her shoes and stepped into her slippers. "Don't even ask. It's..."
"Oh my god, don't tell me that wretched girl stirred up trouble again?"
Mira burst out laughing.
She hadn't even finished her sentence, and Rachel had already guessed it, turning her head away in disgust.
"You're back."
Rachel's son helped carry fruit, pastries, and a hot bowl of soup to the dining table.
Mr. Harth hadn't come back with Mira today; he had gone straight home to prep for his classes.
"Mason, I told you, just call me Mira."
"I already put in a good word for you about that job. You can start in a couple of days."
