"It's fine this time, just treat it as a lesson. From now on, remember that the walls have ears."
They were still just kids, after all, growing and learning as they went.
"Look, there's Natalie Rivers!" Liora pointed to a spot not far from their classroom.
"She's practically obsessed. Waiting around every single day just to grab lunch with Wesley Scott," Celine remarked with a roll of her eyes.
"I don't know what kind of dumb luck Wesley stumbled into to have Natalie treating him like a king."
"If they eat together every day, do you think she'll get pregnant?" Elara Finn asked, her voice laced with genuine confusion.
Ever since Mara Mercer's scandalous pregnancy, the sheltered girl had been sporadically pondering the mechanics of it all.
"Hahaha..."
The three of them stared at Elara for a second before bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
"Alright, alright, cut it out. She's just curious," Mira said, stifling her own giggles and reigning in the other two.
"Elara, just eating meals together won't get you pregnant. As for how it actually happens... it involves a guy and a girl sneaking off and doing some very intimate things behind everyone's backs."
"Yeah, and they definitely have to lock the door," Liora chimed in helpfully.
"Oh, I get it now. I'll make sure never to be alone with a guy behind a locked door."
Liora and Celine cracked up again, clapping their hands over their mouths to muffle the sound.
After lunch, on the way back, the other three took a detour to the restroom, leaving Mira to walk toward the classroom alone.
"Mira."
She hadn't expected to run into Harvey Rivers just down the hall.
"I was completely serious about what I said."
"Serious about what?" Mira was momentarily thrown off, her mind drawing a blank.
"About you being my fiancée. It wasn't a joke. I've given it a lot of thought."
