Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 22

The Mercer children had all learned self-defense from a young age, and Mira was no exception.

She just hadn't been diligent enough as a child and had only reached the 6th-grade green belt in Taekwondo.

That level was enough to handle a few ordinary people, but against a true master, her skills were all flash and no substance. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so easily kidnapped in her past life.

Reborn, she had to strengthen her self-defense skills. When it mattered most, she could only rely on herself.

"If you want Master Ellis to train you personally, your current skill level isn't enough. Any other instructor would be fine, though."

Master Ellis was the owner of the center and its most skilled martial artist.

"Please, Oliver, could you help me arrange it? I'll bring you some donuts next time I come.

Just get me a meeting with Master Ellis. I'll handle the rest myself."

Mira was already beautiful, and her sweet voice was incredibly pleasant to listen to.

She knew this guy responded to kindness, not coercion.

"How do you know my name? And my favorite snack?"

"I heard it from someone else. You're famous, Oliver."

Oliver cursed inwardly, *Which jerk has been telling everyone about me?*

Still, he didn't refuse Mira. He checked the time.

"Wait twenty minutes."

"Thanks, Oliver."

Mira sat down on a nearby chair and took out her phone, intending to look at the stock market to see if anything jogged her memory from the past few days.

Suddenly, she remembered that domestic smartphones had just hit the market, and related apps were still underdeveloped. She would need a computer.

"What's your name?"

Mira paused for a moment. Was Oliver asking for registration?

"Mira."

"That name sounds familiar. Are you that Mercer heiress who's been trending online these past few days?"

"That's me."

"If you rich kids want to learn martial arts, can't you just hire a master to teach you at home?"
