Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 327

Zachary was furious. If he had known these people were this useless, he never would have wasted so much money hiring them.

How was he supposed to explain this to his boss?

He glanced around. Even though it was nearing midnight, a sizable crowd of onlookers was starting to form.

"What are you all staring at?"

He barked at his subordinates. "Go disperse the crowd."

He turned back to face the team leaders. "Since you botched the job, hand back the money."

At least that way, he'd have some sort of consolation to present to Mr. Lance.

"Hey, you can't do that.

We gave it our best shot, and everyone genuinely tried."

Besides, it wasn't like all the cash had gone straight into their own pockets. They had used most of it to hire other people, and there was no way those aggressive women were going to issue refunds.

"Zachary, I swear we tried. If you don't believe me, look at this."

One of the team leaders was clever enough to have recorded a video of his crew getting into shouting matches with the real fans earlier, and now it came in handy...

Meanwhile, a few of the hired agitators who had been lingering in the crowd overheard the demand for refunds and immediately slipped away into the night.

Were they joking? Trying to take back money that was already safely in their pockets?

...

Surrounded by a phalanx of bodyguards, Leonard Lance exited the venue. Just as he was about to step into his car, he noticed the commotion nearby.

"Go see what's happening."

"Yes, sir."

Leonard waited in the car. Less than ten minutes later, the man he sent called back.

"Mr. Lance, it's Zachary Lloyd, Lawrence's assistant. He's currently in a heated argument with a group of hired thugs."

Leonard instantly pieced it together. Had his idiotic grandson actually tried to hire people to sabotage the concert, only for the plan to fail, leading to a public dispute with the mercenaries?

"Tell that assistant to get the hell out of there immediately."

Thank god he had sent someone to check. Who knew how far this would have escalated otherwise?

Was the boy trying to humiliate them further? A botched sabotage attempt? What an absolute joke.

Luckily, all the reporters were still backstage trying to secure interviews. If they had caught this on camera and posted it online, the Lance family would have been the laughingstock of the city.
