Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 433

Lacey tightly embraced Mara. "Don't cry, sweetheart. Even if everyone else abandons us, I will always choose you."

She grabbed a tissue and wiped the tears from Mara's face. "Don't worry. Even if Ethan won't take you, I'll make sure your wish comes true."

Lacey gritted her teeth in determination. "Tomorrow, I'm taking you myself."

"You're taking me?" Mara looked doubtful.

"Yes, I'll take you," Lacey emphasized.

"But they check IDs at the entrance. Not just anyone can walk into a closed bidding war."

Lacey shot Mara a confident look. "Do you think I don't know how this works?"

Before stepping back to raise her children, Lacey had been a powerhouse in the Mercer Group, wielding just as much authority as Adrian.

"Rest assured, sweetheart. Tomorrow, we're getting in."

Lacey kept one arm securely around Mara, resting their heads together as she dialed a number on her phone.

"Print out the entry passes for Mara and me for tomorrow's bidding."

"Mrs. Mercer, the company only registered five spots, and the identities have already been finalized."

"Then remove two people and put Mara and me on the list."

"I'm afraid I can't do that. It requires Mr. Mercer's direct approval."

"Wyatt Grant, I am the matriarch of this family. I am Ethan's mother! Do I really need someone else's permission to attend an event?"

"I know exactly who you are, ma'am. But protocol is protocol. Please don't put us employees in a difficult position."

After a hushed discussion, Lacey finally smiled. "You always know what to do. I'll leave it in your hands."

Hanging up, Lacey turned to Mara. "Your Aunt Fiona always finds a way."

That night, Lenny Forbes called Mira to report the Mercer family's latest antics.

"Haha! 'Out of your mind?' I didn't expect Ethan to actually grow a spine and go head-to-head with Adrian. He even planned it in advance. It looks like the Mercer Group won't collapse so easily after all."

Mira wasn't disappointed. She had never intended to completely obliterate the Mercer family anyway. As long as Adrian and Mara got exactly what they deserved, her revenge would be complete.

The next morning, Ethan arrived at the bidding venue with his four top executives.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Mercer. Two people from your company have already entered. You only have three spots left. Look, they're right over there."

Ethan followed the security guard's finger and saw Lacey and Mara sitting comfortably in the designated Mercer section, laughing together. A surge of pure rage coursed through him.
