Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 470

"You mean replicate what we did last time, but on Lacey?" Shane instantly caught his daughter's drift.

Roxanne nodded. "Let Mara wear her down for a few more days. If it still doesn't work, we execute this backup plan immediately."

"Just be careful." They were talking about illegal narcotics, after all.

"Don't worry, Dad."

What Roxanne didn't expect was that before she even had to implement the backup plan, Mara came to her first.

Mara proactively contacted the Sidewalk Sharks from last time, asking if they had any more of the drug. The dealers immediately checked in with Roxanne.

"Give it to her. You can jack up the price; keep the extra cash for yourselves."

"Yes, Boss."

Roxanne turned to Shane. "This pawn you picked up is useless at anything legitimate, but she's a natural when it comes to dirty tricks."

"Isn't that exactly what we need? Hahaha! Last time, Ethan refused the soup, and Lacey scolded him for not caring about his sister. I bet if Lacey is the one drinking the soup this time, things will go incredibly smoothly. Roxanne, have Norman intercept the security footage when it happens. I want to watch."

"Dad, focus on the real objective. Stop playing around," Roxanne said, both exasperated and amused.

"Stop indulging your father's nonsense," Victoria chided her husband with a roll of her eyes.

"Oh, what's the harm? It's just lifting a finger for Norman. We can watch it together," Shane chuckled.

...

Just as Shane predicted, Lacey did not disappoint when it came to her blind devotion.

During dinner, Mara completely dropped her weeping act from the past few days. "Mom, I thought about it, and I don't want your shares anymore. I don't have enough experience right now, so it's better if I start from the bottom. Building a solid foundation step by step is the right way."

"Since Mara is so wonderful, let's transfer our shares to her right now."

"Right now. Let's transfer them to her."

The father and daughter exchanged a triumphant look, and Adrian immediately dialed the lawyers.

Lacey regained her senses later that night, her memory of everything that happened after dinner hazy and fragmented.

Mara immediately brought over a plate of freshly washed, imported cherries and sliced Australis Mangoes. "Mom, these just arrived this afternoon. Try some."

Enjoy it while you can. In three days, the equity transfer will officially go through, and you can get the hell out of here.

"I remember earlier... earlier..." Lacey mumbled as she ate the fruit, as if suddenly recalling something.

Adrian and Mara's hearts instantly leaped into their throats.
