Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 500

Did she really want Ethan to do well? If she hadn't lived through the betrayals of her past life, she absolutely would have. But now...

After hanging up, Mira immediately went to work securing her perimeter. “Rachel, whenever you leave the house over the next few days, make sure Zane is with you. Adrian is getting desperate, and he might try to grab you to blackmail me. Also, remind Mason to avoid going anywhere isolated or sketchy.”

Next, she called Elara Finn to warn her.

“Don't worry, Mira. I barely leave the restaurant anyway,” Elara assured her. The girl had clearly become addicted to making money again. But that was actually ideal; staying inside Solflare Hearth & Grill was one of the safest places she could be. As for Celine Ward and Liora Bennett, they were both wealthy heiresses with their own elite security details. Adrian wouldn't dare mess with them.

Meanwhile, back at the Mercer estate, Adrian was listening to a devastating report from his secretary.

“Mr. Mercer, the investigation is complete. Mira is the absolute owner of Solflare Entertainment.”

“That's impossible!” Adrian, Fiona, and Mara shouted in unison.

“It's the absolute truth. Her current net worth is in the tens of billions, easily rivaling the Mercer Group at its absolute peak. Furthermore, she's also the famous composer Lune, and she's the legendary—”

“Stop right there. Everyone already knows that. Quit wasting our time with garbage,” Mara snapped, cutting the secretary off. She was trembling with such intense jealousy she could barely breathe.

“I wasn't finished,” the secretary said, looking directly at Adrian.

“Let him speak,” Adrian ordered, shooting Mara a dark look. “When adults are talking, keep your mouth shut.”

“Mira is also Lady Oracle, the financial prodigy. Word on Wall Street is that she has never lost a single trade.”

“There is no way,” Mara denied fiercely again.

But this time, Adrian and Fiona remained dead silent.

Instinctively, his thoughts drifted to Shane Porter. The Porters were ruthless bastards, but they were brilliant strategists. It was infuriating that they were now at war; otherwise, he would have gladly consulted them for a plan. Why didn't he have someone like that in his corner?

Just as Adrian hit a wall, Fiona offered another venomous suggestion. “Why don't we find a way to kidnap Lacey? If we have her, there's no way Mira won't surrender.”

“Are you sure she even cares about Lacey?” Mara scoffed skeptically. After all, Lacey had deeply offended Mira in the past.

“She'll care whether she wants to or not. They are biological mother and daughter. Think about it—the moment we threw Lacey out of the house, someone miraculously showed up to save her. And that person even fought for her and legally stripped away half of your father's assets.”

“Your mother makes an excellent point. Fine, that's exactly what we'll do,” Adrian agreed firmly.

Mara, however, remained entirely unconvinced that Mira would lift a finger to save Lacey. “The person who saved Lacey last time was Ethan, and he's always been obsessed with the 'big picture.' From everything I've seen, Mira wouldn't waste her breath on her.”
