Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 533

The screens shook for ten seconds before returning to normal. The ten million dollars hadn't gone through; the transaction was completely rejected.

"What just happened?" Ethan asked.

"They have a hacker on their team. Thank God our firewall is strong, or we wouldn't have just lost that ten million—our entire system would have been compromised," Mira explained.

"Where did they find someone that good?" Ethan asked.

"Where else? The Lance Family in Aethelgard. I'm calling Owen." Mira grabbed her phone.

"Owen, they've got an incredible hacker. Any idea who it is?"

"Zachary brought Lucian 'The Ink' North? That's bold. Give me a second, I'm calling my grandfather."

Lucian was the head of security for the Lance Family's bank, a man with unparalleled computer skills.

"Owen, can you send me his info? Should I ask Dominic West for help?"

Without knowing her opponent's details, Mira couldn't hack into his personal system. And a hacker of that caliber wouldn't leave his information lying around.

"Hold on. Going head-to-head with him isn't a good idea. If he's willing to back down, let it go. Otherwise, you can ask Dominic for help, or just call the police."

Hacking financial accounts was a federal crime in Mavaria, which was why Mira usually avoided it.

While waiting, Mira called Lenny. "Roxanne brought a guy named Lucian North from Aethelgard. Dig up whatever you can on him. Be careful, he's cautious."

"Got it," Lenny replied.

A few minutes later, Owen called back. "My grandfather already ordered him back, but the guy is stubborn. If he's still causing trouble for you this afternoon, call me."

"Did you get the call from my grandfather?"

"Owen! So you're the one who got the Chairman to call me back. I knew it."

"Cut the crap. Are you coming back or not?"

"I'm in the middle of a job. You can't blame me. Lawrence sent me here. If I leave now, I'll be getting on his bad side."

Owen hung up without another word and called Mira. "I just sent his file to your phone. Do you want to handle this legally, or do it yourself?"

"I'll handle it myself. With what he's done so far, the police won't give him much of a sentence, and we don't have enough solid evidence anyway."

"Can you take him down alone? He's a master.
