After riding another lap around the field, the three of them saw Harvey sitting in a pavilion, chatting with friends.
Liora, ever the quick one, called out, "Harvey, didn't you say you were treating us to a meal?"
"Where were you guys just now?" Harvey asked, ignoring Liora's question.
"Your sister fell off her horse earlier."
"What? How did that happen? Is she okay?" Mira asked, feigning ignorance.
In public, she and Mara were still sisters. If she acted indifferent, it would cause gossip.
"Luckily, she wasn't seriously injured. Everything's been taken care of. Wesley took her home."
"As long as she's okay, I'm relieved."
With that, Mira and her friends started to ride away. They had only gone a short distance when Liora suddenly remembered something.
"Hey, Harvey promised to buy us dinner!"
Celine gave her a sidelong glance. "There was an accident at his stables. He's probably not in a good mood. Let's not bother him."
Mira chimed in, "Alright, alright. What if Harvey asks where we were? It would be hard to lie our way out of it."
This was his family's property, and he knew every corner of it. Besides, the incident had caused a commotion throughout the entire stables.
Seeing they still had some time left, the three of them decided to go for one last ride.
But then Natalie ran over, wanting to join them.
"You were behind what happened earlier, weren't you?" Liora asked her directly.
"No, no, they just weren't riding properly."
It seemed the young lady had some cunning after all.
The four of them then rode together, chatting as they went.
