Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 582

"Oh, right, and this is Vanessa Voss," Leah added.

She pointed toward the other roommate, who was currently lounging on her bed.

Vanessa simply lifted her stunning face, offered Mira a dismissive, obligatory nod, and immediately dropped her gaze back to her phone.

"I'm Mira Mercer."

Mira let her gaze sweep across the space.

The suite was designed to house four girls, featuring lofted beds positioned over individual study desks. The space beneath each bed acted as a modular storage unit, with shelves lining the right side and the top, while a lockable wardrobe took up the left.

To sleep, they simply climbed the small ladder attached to the frame. Curtains could be drawn around the mattress for added privacy, creating a surprisingly cozy personal retreat.

"Wait! Mira Mercer? Are you the famous singer Mira?"

"You're too kind. I'm not really a professional artist."

"Oh my gosh! It really is you!

Ah! I'm roommates with Mira! I'm going to have the ultimate bragging rights!"

Leah's eyes widened, practically vibrating with excitement.

"I heard you even got the top score on the entrance exams. That's incredible! I'm definitely going to learn a lot from you."

Meanwhile, Vanessa remained sprawled on her bed, scrolling on her phone without uttering a single word.

Naturally, Mira had no intention of catering to her arrogant attitude.

"Here, let me help you with that," Leah offered.

She eagerly grabbed Mira's bedding and helped heave it onto the top bunk.

"Thanks."

"Why did you pack so lightly?"

Leah realized that after barely a few minutes of lifting, they were completely finished.

"My place is right next to campus, so it's really easy for me to pop back home."

"Right next door? You're so lucky, you can go home whenever you want.

Wait a second, I thought I read that you were from Melvion City?"

"I am. But wherever I am, that's where my home is."

Leah stared at her, clearly failing to grasp the meaning.

"I bought an apartment near the university."

Mira couldn't help but inwardly smile. Was missing the top spot really something to mourn over? And was Elara's blunt comparison actually comforting?

Suddenly, a sharp voice cut through their chatter. "Keep it down," Vanessa commanded from her bed.

Mira ignored her completely, but Leah immediately shrunk back. "Sorry! Didn't mean to bother you."

Since Mira's belongings were already put away, she was ready to go.

"I'm going to head out. What about you, Elara?"

"But Harvey said he was going to give us a tour of the campus!

It's still early, Mira. Let's just walk around with him for a bit, and you can go back after the tour."

Elara was practically buzzing with anticipation to explore the university.

Mira considered it for a moment. "Alright, let's go see what Harvey has lined up."

"Hey, Mira? Do you mind if I tag along?"

Leah hurried after them as they stepped out of the room.

"Sure."

The more, the merrier.
