Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 655

Expecting a bunch of undergrads to produce earth-shattering financial research was nothing short of a joke.

But then again, it was a highly motivated, genuinely valuable organization. Though their numbers were small, the quality of their members was exceptional.

Unlike so many other college clubs that existed solely to waste time, this one actually had a purpose.

Mira planned to make this society her main extracurricular focus. As for the others, she'd drop by whenever she had the time or inclination.

Since Mira had signed up, Elara and Leah followed suit, along with the four guys from Harvey's dorm.

It was getting late by then, so the group decided to head back.

Just as they were about to step out the door, Luna Lance walked in, and the person standing next to her was the last person anyone expected.

"Seraphina Quinn! Isn't that your cousin, Mira? Why... why is she hanging out with Luna?"

Elara couldn't help but ask in shock.

"Why is that surprising? People align with whoever serves their interests."

Mira motioned for Elara to drop it.

Just then, Seraphina glanced over and jolted in surprise when she spotted Mira.

"Mira! What are you doing here?"

Her tone carried a distinct trace of guilt.

Elara had spoken softly earlier, so Seraphina hadn't heard the comment.

Mira simply offered a polite nod and kept walking toward the exit.

As they neared the door, she turned to Harvey. "Go back inside and tell Quentin that if they let Luna join, I'm out."

They were fundamentally at odds; there was absolutely no reason to force themselves to share the same space and make everyone miserable.

Harvey nodded and ducked back inside, while the rest of the group waited by the door.

When he emerged, he turned to Mira. "Quentin said to tell you that no matter who the other person is, if there's ever a conflict, he's backing you."

"That guy has seriously good taste," Elara said.

Elara said.

Mira smiled and looked at her. "Why do you say that?"

"Because no one is better than you."

*I just bumped into Luna by chance, so we walked over together.*

Seraphina knew perfectly well that Mira despised the Lance family.

"Did your cousin text you an excuse?"

Mira hadn't bothered to hide her screen from Elara while reading the text.

"Yep."

Mira typed a quick reply: *You don't need to explain yourself to me. Who you hang out with is entirely up to you.*

Just then, Cedric Miller spoke up. "There's a great spot just outside the campus gates. The food is amazing."

The group agreed and headed over.

The moment they walked through the restaurant doors, they spotted Seraphina sitting at a table with Vanessa and Luna.

"Hmph. Your cousin just claimed she 'bumped into' Luna by chance. Is this another coincidence?"

Elara crossed her arms, annoyed by the blatant lie.
