Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 696

In the power struggles of high society, reason and law don't matter, only the upper hand does.

Thank you for the lesson, ma'am. I'll be sure to keep it in mind."

Lady Lilian sneered, "So, are you going to do as I say, or are you going to force my hand?"

"Do as you say?

First, your daughter has to swallow her pride and beg for my forgiveness in front of the whole school.

Then, if she admits, 'I will never frame you again,' I might consider it."

"You have a death wish!"

Lady Lilian finally snapped. She lunged forward, aiming a slap right at Mira's face.

Mira shifted her head, easily dodging the strike. In the same motion, she grabbed the woman's hair and tossed her nearly ten feet away.

A split second later, a swift kick sent Luna crashing to the ground.

"Ah! Get her! What are you standing there for? Get her!"

Mira had been waiting for her to strike first. Her last remark was specifically designed to provoke her.

Self-defense was key. When brawling, you always had to keep your own hands clean legally.

As the bodyguards swarmed forward, Silas Vane and Jax Weaver leaped into action from both sides, turning the scene into a chaotic melee.

Silas took on one of the highly skilled fighters, while Jax handled the rest. They didn't struggle much. Mira focused entirely on pummeling Luna and her mother.

To her surprise, Harvey Rivers, his roommates, and even a few other classmates jumped in to help, which genuinely moved Mira.

Less than two minutes into the brawl, Owen arrived with the Iron Wolves. By then, the fight was mostly decided.

With their addition, it took less than a minute for the opposing side to be completely flattened.

Campus security finally arrived, but the fight was already over.

"Owen, how did you know?"

"Harvey called me. Why didn't you give me a heads-up when trouble started? What if she brought a dozen elite fighters?"

"I'll keep that in mind for next time."

Though Harvey and the others weren't trained fighters, they had numbers on their side and had grabbed whatever makeshift weapons they could find. They were a genuine help.

It eased the burden on Jax and Silas and bought time.

A minute later, Lawrence Lance arrived, but the fight was already over.

"Owen is the son of the first wife. Lawrence is the son of the current Lady Lilian. She was the mistress who married up."

"Whoa."

"You really shouldn't meddle in wealthy family drama."

By the time the university administrators arrived, the conflict was completely over.

Mira asked Leah for the Micro-HD Recorder, pulled out the memory card, and handed it to Owen along with a recording pen.

"Handle the fallout with the administration for me."

Then, she walked off toward the classrooms with Elara, Harvey, and the rest.

"That... that's it? She just went to class?

How is she acting like absolutely nothing happened?"

What kind of flex was this?

The surrounding students were utterly baffled.

The spectators were still dealing with racing hearts, while the main combatant had just calmly strolled away. That kind of mental fortitude...
