Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 839

"You'll have to wait. Otherwise, I can find you someone older so you can get married right now."

"No way," Owen replied. "I'm a one-woman man. I won't fall for anyone else.

It's a promise—once you're of age, we're getting married."

Mira ignored him, opening her laptop to check the news.

Even though the markets were closed and the charts weren't updating, the situation shouldn't shift drastically before Monday's opening bell as long as no major events occurred.

Trading and investing were inherently risky. If Mira didn't have the memories of her past life, she never would have made such an astronomical gamble, let alone dragged her friends into it.

When Monday rolled around, all three stocks showed an initial upward momentum right out of the gate, startling her. Fortunately, they leveled off an hour later, and by the second hour, the downward slide began.

They were using massive leverage. If the stocks hit their upper limits for two consecutive days, their positions would be liquidated.

By the afternoon, Atlantic Bank stock plummeted, nearly hitting the circuit breaker, while the other two continued a steady decline.

On Tuesday, all of the stocks maintained a steady downward trajectory. Despite occasional blips of recovery, the overarching trend was a plunge.

Come Wednesday, Atlantic Bank stock suddenly hit rock bottom. The group was ecstatic, practically buzzing with adrenaline.

By Friday, Atlantic National was still stalled at the bottom limit, while the other two continued to steadily decline.

"Everyone, get here early tomorrow," she instructed later that evening.

"Are you planning to queue the sell orders for Atlantic National during the pre-market?"

Owen asked.

"Yes."

The fifteen to five minutes before the opening bell was the call auction period. Orders could be placed during this window, though execution wasn't guaranteed.

The final execution would be dictated by the market price once the bell rang.

"Why?"

Wesley asked.

"To lock in our profits."

"I'll explain the details in the morning."

The group headed back to the hotel. Thankfully, Jude Vance and Miven had been too preoccupied with their own trades to bother Mira over the last few days.

Even the hotel concierge seemed to treat them with a bit more respect when they walked through the doors.
