Quentin's shameless behavior left Mira utterly speechless. Sometimes, having incredibly thick skin really paid off.
Mira had actually secured phones for Liora Bennett and Celine Ward as well, planning to give them over the New Year holiday.
After classes let out that afternoon, Seraphina Quinn and her sister-in-law, Luna Lance, cornered Mira once again.
Seraphina's eyes were bloodshot. “Are you happy now?”
“Happy about what?”
Mira honestly didn't know what she was talking about.
“Cut the act. Owen just snatched the Lance Group CEO position. Don't tell me you had no idea.
“You two did this on purpose. You just want to keep me beneath your heel.”
“On purpose? Beneath my heel?
“I'm not just keeping you beneath my heel. I'm lightyears ahead of you. Why would I care about doing this just to spite you?
“Seraphina, you are nothing but dust beneath my shoes, understand? No matter how hard you scheme, you will never be on my level.
“If you had any sense, you'd accurately weigh your own worth and find a guy who actually suits you. Don't let your jealousy blind you. You're only ruining your own life.”
Mira's words were brutally harsh, but they were for Seraphina's own good. She was only offering the warning out of respect for Grandma Eleanor.
But that was where her charity ended. Whether Seraphina listened was up to her.
Owen's true motive was vengeance. Taking over the Lance family's assets was merely a bonus.
Knowing her uncle and Gwen's greedy personalities, who knew if this corporate shake-up would make them reconsider their plans?
Meanwhile, Owen was currently sitting in his grandfather's estate.
“Let go of the grievances from the previous generation.
“Lawrence is your own brother. Don't cause scenes that make us a laughingstock. Guide him well, and he can be an asset to you.”
Leonard stared intensely at Owen as he spoke.
“Grandfather, I treat all my subordinates equally. I won't deliberately target anyone.
“If you don't want us to clash, you need to tell him to actually obey the law and follow the rules. Then we won't have any issues.”
Of course, that peace would only be temporary, Owen thought. As for mentoring Lawrence? That would happen when hell froze over.
