Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 891

Over time, that distorted perception had taken root in his mind.

Whenever there was a conflict between the two girls, he subconsciously assumed it was Mira's fault.

If Ethan, the eldest brother who used to dote on his little sister the most and came home every day, felt that way, what about his younger brothers who rarely visited?

When the three brothers occasionally returned, they saw all three adults fiercely defending Mara. Naturally, their biases aligned with the rest of the house...

Looking back on it now, the only person who truly knew right from wrong was their father.

He was the one who had manipulated their soft-hearted, guilt-ridden mother, sparking the disastrous chain reaction.

It turned out their father was a master of psychological manipulation.

His only miscalculation was underestimating the sheer cruelty of his illegitimate daughter, who had conspired with outsiders to destroy the Mercer family. And he had vastly underestimated Mira's genius.

Those two misjudgments collided, leading to the devastating downfall they now faced.

If Mira hadn't been kind-hearted enough to warn him early on, the Mercer family and their entire company would have been completely wiped out.

The whole family would have been utterly ruined.

Thinking of this, Ethan picked up his phone, opened his newly downloaded Emerald Messenger, and found Mira's contact.

He typed a single sentence: *I'm sorry.*

If Mira knew what he was thinking, she would have told him he was overthinking it. The only reason she had warned Ethan back then was for her own benefit.

Because later on, without the billions of dollars Ethan provided, Mira never would have been able to crush Porter Entertainment.

The past was too painful to dwell on. When Mira opened her phone, the first thing she saw was Ethan's message: *I'm sorry.*

He had also sent a collective apology on behalf of the other brothers, since Mira hadn't added them on Emerald Messenger.

Soon after, Grandma Eleanor and the others went to bed.

When Mira stepped into the study, Owen was still working. Seeing her, he rubbed his tired eyes.

"Congratulations on a successful performance, my lady!"

"Why are you still working? Did you even watch me perform?"

Mira sat down beside him, staring straight into his eyes.

"How could I possibly miss your performance?"

Owen laughed, wrapping an arm securely around her waist.

"I'm just trying to finish up this paperwork so I can spend all of tomorrow with you."

He hadn't just finished his own workload; he had completed Mira's as well.

Mira hugged him back. "You work too hard!"
