"Thank you, Rachel!"
Those hand-knitted wool socks were a labor of love, crafted stitch by stitch whenever Rachel had free time. They were spun from the softest breathable cotton and embroidered with intricate little wildflowers.
Though they were just socks, they provided a priceless comfort money couldn't buy.
For the holiday morning, a massive breakfast was a long-standing tradition. Rachel had prepped the ingredients the night before, leaving them in the fridge so everything was ready to hit the skillet at dawn.
Rachel was an absolute culinary genius. She had whipped up three types of gourmet omelets: savory lamb, delicate shrimp with zucchini, and hearty beef with scallions.
Martial artists possessed voracious appetites, and Jordan Ellis effortlessly devoured three plates. "I'm moving in with Mira permanently."
Owen Lance chimed in with a teasing smirk. "Heartless. So it only took one of Rachel's meals to win you over."
Jordan slammed his fork down and immediately chased Owen around the dining room.
Grandma Eleanor and Rachel watched from the sidelines, fraught with anxiety. "Goodness, that boy is usually so composed. Why on earth would he provoke him like that?"
Mira strongly suspected Owen had done it entirely on purpose.
The bodyguards didn't dare intervene. Stepping in now would be like pouring gasoline on a wildfire.
"Slip of the tongue! Slip of the tongue!" Owen laughed breathlessly as he dodged another swipe. "My apologies, Master Ellis."
Eventually, it was Mira who stepped in, looping her arm affectionately through her mentor's. "Let's just ignore him, Master Ellis. Neither of us will speak to him."
As she spoke, Mira shot a covert glare at Owen.
"Exactly. Our Mira is revoking your boyfriend privileges."
Only then did Jordan finally sit back down, though he continued to shoot lethal glares at Owen.
Grandma Eleanor and Rachel exhaled twin sighs of relief. As long as Jordan wasn't throwing real punches, everything was fine. Having martial artists truly brawl inside the house would have wrecked the place.
As for smoothing things over later, that would be Mira's problem to handle.
"Mira, kick him out right now."
