"I just told you. I sent Eleanor to Australis for a vacation. Are you hard of hearing, Sebastian?" Mira fired back.
"Move! Move it! Run before I crack your skulls!" Master Ellis roared, charging at them with his fists raised.
"Run! He could kill you with a single punch!" Jax Weaver shouted from the sidelines.
Sebastian grabbed Gwen and sprinted out the door.
"Hahaha!" Once they were gone, Jax and the others burst into hysterical laughter.
Jordan glared at Mira. "See that? When trash like that shows up, you just beat them out. Who has time to argue with them? Letting her wail all over the house? I should have knocked her teeth out."
"You're a legend, Jordan," Mira laughed. "Message received. So, are you going to eat first, or go back to sleep?"
"They ruined my sleep. I'm eating. I've got work to do after anyway. By the way, there's progress on that car crash. Yesterday, Lenny Forbes and his team dug up the dirt: that truck driver had contact with one of Lawrence's subordinates. The one named..."
"Zachary Lloyd?" Mira finished the sentence for him.
"Exactly. That illegitimate cur's right-hand man."
"So Lawrence was behind the crash."
"Obviously. But the driver is dead, so there are no witnesses. Ugh, I told you we should have just taken the kid out, but you guys always whine about 'not getting blood on our hands.' As long as that bastard breathes, you're both in danger. Relying on the police to take him down requires proof. But these elite brats? Money buys them limitless power, and they always have someone else doing their dirty work. When will we ever get the ironclad proof to destroy him?"
"Relax, Jordan. Karma comes for everyone. If they're determined to dig their own graves, why should we stain our hands with their blood?"
"You're all grown up now. You call the shots. I'm just an old man; from now on, I'll just be an errand boy for the two of you."
"Jordan, you aren't even fifty yet. Old? You're practically in your prime. I was even thinking of finding you a girlfriend."
"A girlfriend? Not interested."
"Back when your Master was younger—" Jax chimed in, but he was instantly cut off.
"Do you have a death wish?" Jax slammed his mouth shut immediately.
Master Ellis then turned his attention to his breakfast.
