Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 940

As they prepared to leave, Mira quietly pulled Rachel aside for a few final instructions.

She wasn't worried about Eleanor's daily care; both Rachel and Mrs. Higgins were exceptionally meticulous when it came to household matters.

Her primary concern was ensuring they kept Eleanor engaged in conversations about the jewelry plaza. The goal was to keep her mind entirely occupied and delay her return home for as long as humanly possible.

"Also, try to keep her away from her phone. We can't risk her seeing the news," Mira emphasized.

Afterwards, Mira transferred a generous bonus of thousands of dollars to each of the eight borrowed security operatives.

They were allies who weren't on her direct payroll, but tipping them was non-negotiable. Paying them upfront guaranteed absolute loyalty and maximum effort.

If the detail extended past five days, she planned on issuing a second round of bonuses before they left.

Elite security required serious capital. The higher your net worth, the steeper the operating costs.

Once everything was settled, Mira and Jillian headed out.

"Thanks for today. Are you exhausted?"

Mira asked her.

"Exhausted? Are you kidding? You brought me out to see the world. I learned so much about diamonds from Eleanor today."

Jillian was practically vibrating with excitement.

They chatted animatedly in the car until Mira's phone rang. "Wow, Master Ellis, are you already home?"

"Not quite, but I'll be back shortly. Have Rachel prep my favorite dishes."

Typical old man. The second he returns, his mind is fixed on food.

"You forgot. Rachel is accompanying Eleanor at the jewelry plaza. She won't be home for a few days."

"Oh, right, it slipped my mind. Whatever, just have Martha whip something up."

When it came to daily life, Master Ellis was remarkably easygoing.

"Don't worry, Master Ellis. I'll call Mason and have him cook your favorites, then get them delivered."

Mason's cooking style was very similar to Rachel's, though after receiving some pointers from the Lennox Brothers, his technique was arguably more refined.

"Fine, my brilliant apprentice calls the shots."

Ending the call, Mira immediately dialed Mason's number.

Mira and her group had already eaten; she only needed to arrange meals for Master Ellis, Owen, and their security details.

The plaza wasn't far from Mira's residence. The driver dropped Jillian off at campus first before navigating back to Mira's neighborhood.

Neither Master Ellis nor Owen had arrived by the time Mira got home. She changed into comfortable clothes and curled up on the couch with a book, relishing the quiet moment.
