Too Pretty to Be Your Backup novel Chapter 92

The engagement party was called off anyway.

One failed attempt, then another. It was obvious. She and Travis were never going to work out.

And soon, she’d be leaving the country anyway.

It’d finally be over—no more ties to Travis.

When Mateo walked into the luxury suite, Travis was already several drinks in, pouring himself another glass of whiskey with a stormy look on his face.

Honestly, if it weren’t for Mateo, no one else would dare come near Travis right now. The tension radiating off him was enough to freeze the whole room.

Mateo grabbed a bottle from the bar, popped it open, and slid onto the seat next to him.

“Man, you’re not yourself tonight. You really that upset about the second engagement party falling apart?”

All of London was buzzing about it. Travis and Amanda’s second engagement party was canceled again.

First time didn’t happen. Second time, same story. What else could you call it but fate?

Travis just kept drinking, silent.

Mateo leaned in, curiosity getting the better of him. “So, I heard Leila got kidnapped, and you traded Amanda for her?”

Travis shot him a look that could kill.

Mateo just grinned, totally unfazed. If anything, he was more interested now.

“Come on, I’m honestly curious. Who do you care about more, Amanda or Leila? Or are you trying to keep both?”

If Travis didn’t care about Amanda, why did he bother with a second engagement party at all?

But if he did care, why did he trade her for Leila?

If he was willing to exchange Amanda for Leila, didn’t that mean Leila mattered more? So why not just be with her outright?

And everyone knew Travis hated manipulation and betrayal. Back when Amanda supposedly drugged him, he never even went after her.

So… maybe he really did have a soft spot for Amanda.

Mateo clapped him on the shoulder, speaking honestly. “Bro, if you actually care about Amanda, you’re not doing a great job showing it. If you love her, how could you stand to watch her get hurt? You know how people in London talk about her, all the crap she’s put up with for years. And now, you used her to save Leila. I gotta say, man, your actions don’t exactly scream love.”

Their whole circle was all about status and reputation. Everyone had sharp eyes.

If Travis truly valued Amanda, no one would mock her? But look around—Amanda was everyone’s favorite target.

On the other hand, Leila was the so-called Little Princess in town.

Whose princess? Travis', obviously.

Wherever she went, people fawned over her, treated her like royalty.

Compared to Leila, Amanda was always left in the shadows.
