Chapter 34 The Tiger’s Loyalty
The scene was nothing short of miraculous!

That huge tiger was lying docilely beside the girl, and as she stroked its head, it looked positively content.
Is this still that grumpy, wild tiger-the one that practically jumps to devour anyone who tries to feed it meat?
Havewe all been wrong about it?
Is this tiger actually gentle?
“Ms. Tucker! Get over here quickly-it’s dangerous!”
The bodyguards forced themselves to step forward.
“ROAR!”
But no sooner had they taken one step than the tiger bared its fangs and roared.
The ground-shaking power of that roar-there was nothing gentle about it. This was a man-eating king of beasts, through and through!
The bodyguards’ legs turned to jelly.
Then, something even more amazing-something no one could believe-happened.
Margaret patted the tiger’s head, scolding it like it was a naughty cat or dog. “Be good, kitty! If you keep making noise, I’ll spank you!”
Right away, the tiger seemed to understand. It calmed down instantly, looking almost wronged-like it was saying, “I was trying to protect you, and now you’re yelling at me…”
Everyone’s eyes widened. They looked like they’d seen a ghost.
“Margaret… Are you okay?” Matthew finally snapped out of his shock. He wanted to say something comforting, but his mouth felt stuck.
Margaret’s expression was calm. She curled her lips into a faint smile. “Why wouldn’t I be? This little kitty’s so well-behaved.”
“Margaret, thank goodness you’re safe! We thought the tiger had eaten you-Clara and I were terrified.” Nichole put on a fake worried face, but inside, she was fuming.
Why didn’t that tiger tear Margaret to pieces?
Useless beast!
Nichole shot the tiger a venomous glare.
And the tiger saw it. In the blink of an eye, it leaped forward, landing right in front of Nichole. Towering over her, it opened its jaws and let out a thunderous roa
Nichole’s ears rang. Her face turned as white as paper, and her body shook violently. “T-The tiger’s gonna eat me! Ahh!!

“Matthew! Save me! Please save me!” she screamed hysterically.
But Matthew was frozen with fear. He didn’t dare move an inch-this tiger could bite a person in half with one snap of its jaws.
“Help! Don’t eat me! Eat Clara next to me-she’s younger, her meat’s tastier!”
Without a second thought, Nichole grabbed Clara and pulled her in front of herself.
“Mom! How could you use me as a shield?!” Clara’s face was also pale. She was furious with Nichole.
The tiger just stared at them, not attacking right away.
It was like it was intentionally making them suffer the despair of knowing they could be eaten at any
moment.
“ROAR!!”
It roared again, like a mischievous child. Its jaws gaped wide-big enough to swallow a kid whole.
“Ah! Help! Someone help us!”
Nichole and Clara babbled in terror. Then, with a thud, both of them collapsed to the ground-knocked out cold by fear.
“Okay, kitty. Come here.” Margaret waved at the tiger.
The beast, which had just looked ready to devour someone, turned around obediently. It walked back to Margaret, then crouched down, nuzzling her leg with its huge head-the size of a washbasin.
It looked like it was asking for praise.
Margaret patted its head. “Good kitty.”
The bodyguards and Matthew stood there, dumbfounded.
In front of Margaret, this fearsome tiger was as gentle and obedient as a giant house cat…
“All right, you can leave now. I’ll put this kitty back in its cage.”
Margaret’s cold gaze swept over them-a clear dismissal
Matthew was terrified of the tiger. He didn’t want to stay a second longer. “Carry Nichole and Clara. Let’s go.”
Before leaving, Matthew gave Margaret a deep look.
He’d never thought this daughter of his had the same gift as Kenneth-the ability to connect with these fierce beasts!
He’d underestimated her before.
Once everyone was gone, Margaret patted the tiger’s head again. “Okay, kitty. Back to your cage.”
The tiger obeyed immediately, walking back into its cage on its own.
Margaret could communicate with animals-that was one of her superpowers.

She opened the door and went inside. The first floor was just a storage room, cluttered with odds and ends. Her bedroom was upstairs.
Margaret climbed the wooden stairs to her room. It was decently sized but sparsely furnished–just a bed, a desk, and a wardrobe. No other furniture.
But the original owner had loved living here. It was quic-a place that belonged only to her. A place where she could lick her wounds in peace.
This cottage was even shabbier than the servants’
quarters.
