A minute later, Margaret popped up again. Andrew was practically radiating icy rage-enough to freeze blood solid-but she brushed it off, cool as a cucumber.
She looked at him, teasing. “Andrew, why are you staring at me like that?”
The moment he saw her, the murderous intent in Andrew’s eyes vanished. He replied coldly, like it was no big deal, “Nothing. Just wasn’t happy when you disappeared.”
“How unhappy?” She perked up, curious.
He didn’t hold back. “The kind of unhappy that makes me want to kill someone.”
Margaret’s eyes lit up. She’d found a common topic. “Andrew, how many people have you killed?”
Andrew thought about it seriously, his eyes darkening. He shook his head. “Lost count.”
“What’s your favorite way to kill?” she pressed, even more curious.
“Headshots with a gun.”
Margaret’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “No way! That’s my favorite too! It’s such a rush, right?”
She sounded thrilled just thinking about the gory scenes.
Andrew, though, kept his gaze fixed on her beautiful face. His eyes were calm and steady, like he was admiring the most stunning scenery in the world.
“Yeah. It’s a rush.”
The night was quiet, so their conversation drifted to everyone nearby.
Walter pulled his coat tighter, a creeped-out shiver running down his spine.
These two are definitely not normal.
He was a professional doctor and a psychology PhD.
He could tell this girl, like Andrew, had some serious mental issues.
What normal person talks about blowing people’s heads off without even blinking? And she loves it?
Now I get it—why Andrew fell for her the second he saw her. They’re total kindred spirits! Both twisted, ruthless, and straight-up crazy…
The three got in the car.
Inside, Margaret disassembled her sniper rifle and put it back in the locked case-no qualms about showing
it to Andrew and Walter.
“Ms. Tucker, where’d you get that gun?” Walter gaped.

That wasn’t some ordinary rifle. Regular people couldn’t get their hands on one-especially not in Karemin, where guns were strictly banned.
“A gift,” Margaret answered casually.
Walter was quiet for a moment, then asked, “I thought the rumors said you were shy and a hick from the countryside. How’d you get this badass?”
He’d seen the bodies-clean headshots every time. Her skills were no joke. She was nothing like the rumors.
She was tough and cool as hell.
Margaret brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, her charm mixed with a faint, cold killing intent. “Dr. Eberhart, everyone has secrets. Too much curiosity’s gonna get you in trouble, you know.”
Walter’s heart skipped a beat. That aura is terrifying!
He faked a cough and turned to stare out the window, awkward. “Well. I’ll drop it.”
The convoy split into two. One group took the kids to the police station; the other headed straight for Mohler Manor.
When the car stopped, Andrew declared domineeringly, “Maggie, you’re staying here tonight.”
Margaret didn’t refuse. For a second, she looked surprisingly docile-like a sweet little girl. “Sure. Whatever you say, Andrew.”
She liked being around him.
The scent of his blood eased the chronic headache that had plagued her for years.
Walter’s eyes nearly bulged out.
Right now, she looked totally harmless-like an innocent blank slate, nothing like the cold-blooded killer from earlier.
They went to the same dark-themed room as before.
Margaret took a quick shower, then wandered out in a loose bath towel, showing off her trim waist and long, shapely legs. Every inch of her was alluring.
Andrew, in his wheelchair, watched her calmly. His deep eyes held appreciation and approval.
She sat on the bed, graceful and seductive, then turned to him with a smile. “Andrew, do I look good?”
Andrew nodded. “You look beautiful.”
“Do you want to sleep with me?” she asked next.
He was honest again. “Yes.”
Margaret glanced at his legs, curious. “Andrew, your legs are paralyzed… does that mean you’re not up to it?”
Andrew’s face darkened slightly. His deep voice held a hint of coldness. “You can test me.”

Seeing he was offended. Margaret softened her tone to comfort him. “Don’t be mad. I was joking.”
Then she grew serious, her eyes sincere. “Andrew, do you really like me that much?”
