Chapter 201: Matilda’s

Chapter Two Hundred and Two

"Your mission ended before afternoon. How is it that you are returning now?" her father asked.

"Sorry, sir. We encountered a few challenges on the way," she responded.

"Tell me. Where is the proof that Demir is selling my lands?" he asked, completely ignoring the fact that she had just mentioned they encountered some challenges. He didn’t care.

Was it bothering her? Maybe a little.

Maybe it was the pregnancy, but she could feel her emotions rising more than usual. That was dangerous. She never showed emotions, and if she suddenly started acting differently, she feared they would find out.

And if they did...

What was she going to say about who the father was?

Why was it that whenever she was outside the Villa she forgot about the consequences, but the moment she stepped back inside, they came crashing into her mind?

She pushed the feeling down her throat. "Here, sir," she said, handing the documents to him.

He went through them slowly.

When he finished, she watched his face darken before he exploded.

"How dare he do this to me! Where the hell is he? So I can crash him with my own fingers."

"Ahmet took him as compensation," she responded.

"Ahmet..." he repeated thoughtfully. Then suddenly he looked at her.

"Did your heart boil with anger seeing him so close? Did you want to pull the trigger?" The question caught her off guard. It took her a moment to realize he was trying to stir the hatred he believed she still carried.

"Yes, sir," she lied.

"I know," he said with satisfaction. "And it is only a matter of time. If Demir hadn’t been foolish enough to try selling my land, you would have ended his life already."

He waved his hand dismissively. "But for now, you will put that aside until he delivers all the information he has on this issue. After that... you can kill him."

He dismissed her as if the matter was settled.

Still, she managed to pick one important thing from that conversation.

Her father didn’t know she was pregnant. And he definitely didn’t know about her relationship with Ahmet.

Then who knew?

Cole only found out when she called him to come to the hospital. Even then, he learned the truth when the doctor mistakenly assumed he was the father.

Could it be her nanny?

No. She shook her head immediately. Her nanny would never betray her trust.

"Then it must be from Ahmet’s side," she murmured to herself. But who? She stepped outside and climbed into the car parked near her father’s building.

Cole was already inside, waiting.

"The cousins called," he reported. "They said the meeting will be at Markus’ place."

She nodded. He didn’t ask her any questions. Neither did he look at her with disgust. They drove in silence until Cole added something else.

"Matilda came home very late yesterday. I thought you should know."

A frown appeared on her face. "What do you mean by very late?"

"She returned from school after nine," Cole explained. "When asked, she said she had extra lectures."

Asli stared at him, clearly waiting for the rest. "And?"

"I checked the expenses for last month and this month. There were no payments for extra tuition. When I asked her about it, she said the lessons were free."

Asli sighed. She really didn’t have the energy to deal with this right now. She could tell Matilda was lying. That was new. Was the new girl a bad influence on her?

"Find out exactly what it is," she said. "I want to know as soon as possible."

"I’m already on it," Cole replied with a small smirk. She knew Matilda meant a lot to him too. He’d protect her just as much as he would protect her.

Asli leaned back in the seat. The exhaustion she had been ignoring finally caught up with her. Before she realized it, she had fallen asleep.

She didn’t know how long she had slept. But when she woke up, the car was quiet. She blinked and looked around. She was alone.

Outside, the three men sat nearby like bodyguards, talking among themselves.

She jolted upright and checked the time. She had been asleep for more than three hours.

Why hadn’t they woken her up?

She stepped out of the car and walked toward them. Immediately they saw her, they told her to go inside and rest.

"I’m fine," she said dismissively.

Then she looked at them. "Did you find out anything useful?" she asked.
