A familiar, icy scent filled the air.

I yanked my veil off in one motion. “Vincent. I knew it was you.”

He stood in front of me in a perfectly tailored suit, and when I recognized him that quickly, a flicker of satisfaction

crossed his face.

He shut the door and reached for my hand. “Serena, come with me. Now.”

Vincent didn’t even flinch, his eyes turning soft. “Don’t worry. I have a way out.”

I’ve already made a deal with the Bratva,” he said. “They’re waiting outside the city, and we can hide on their turf.”

My yoice shook with disbelief. “Vincent… you betrayed us?”

Lorenzo smiled and lifted a folder. “Recognize this?” he asked, holding up the classified intel Vincent had sold

Vincent broke completely.

As he was dragged away, he looked back at me one last time, blood and tears streaking down his face.
