There was a significant time difference between China and the United States.
Rose hadn’t received a reply from Trevor yet.
For now, all she could do was wait patiently.
When the kindergarten event ended, Rose didn’t leave immediately.
She watched as a group of wealthy women chatted and laughed with Samantha while walking toward the parking lot.
Ryan escorted Samantha to the car and opened the door for her like a perfect gentleman.
Thoughtful.
Attentive.
Considerate.
Once again, the gesture earned him envious glances from the women around them.
Feeling their admiration, Samantha couldn’t help but smile softly.
She cast Ryan a lingering, affectionate look before waving goodbye and getting into the car.
Rose watched the display of affection as though she were a complete outsider.
In truth, her heart no longer stirred at the sight.
The only thing she cared about was making sure Ryan had left the kindergarten.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving first.
Only after watching his car disappear did Rose finally climb into her Range Rover.
She hadn’t expected Trevor to reply.
Yet just then, her phone buzzed.
Trevor: Have you decided to get divorced?
Instead of answering her question, he asked one of his own.
Rose had never told Trevor that her husband was Ryan.
Given Ryan’s status, she preferred to avoid unnecessary complications.
Diana certainly wouldn’t mention it either.
As for whether Trevor had investigated her background, Rose didn’t think so.
After all, he wasn’t anyone particularly close to her.
Why would he be interested in her personal affairs?
She replied:
Rose: I’ll be getting the divorce certificate tomorrow.
This time, Trevor responded almost immediately.
Trevor: All right. I’ll be back no later than next week.
A few moments later, another message appeared.
Trevor: Congratulations.
Rose stared at the word.
A complicated warmth spread through her chest.
It felt as though she could finally see light at the end of a long tunnel.
Tomorrow.
Everything would finally be over.
For the first time in a very long while, she felt genuine relief.
And anticipation.
After replying with a simple thank you, Rose returned her attention to her work at G.S.
The clinical trials were entering their final stage.
Regulatory approval was just around the corner.
Although she could develop many drugs like this one, her current focus was on the prototype medical robot, which had successfully secured funding.
After working late into the evening, Rose returned to her apartment.
There were still divorce documents and related paperwork she needed to organize before everything became official.

The next morning, Rose woke up early.
Her thoughts had kept her awake most of the night.
She washed up quickly and headed straight to the courthouse.
Only after obtaining the divorce certificate could Ariel’s registration be transferred into her name.
She had been waiting for this day for a very long time.
Once Trevor returned to the country, everything could finally be resolved.
Warmth rose in her chest.
Her fingers tightened around the steering wheel.
She arrived at the courthouse shortly before nine o’clock.
After parking, she took out her phone and called Ryan.
Although she had changed her number and no longer had his contact information saved, there was a certain irony to it all.
She still remembered his number by heart.
After all these years, it felt permanently engraved in her memory.
The realization almost made her laugh.
At least she’d finally recovered from being hopelessly in love with him.
What a relief.
She dialed the number.
The line rang several times before a recording played.
"We’re sorry. The number you have dialed is no longer in service."
Rose frowned.
For a moment, she thought she’d misdialed.
She checked the number again.
It was correct.
Even if Ryan had blocked her, he could only have blocked her old number.
There was no way he could have known her new one.
There was only one explanation.
He had changed his number.
Rose stared at her phone for a long moment before letting out a disbelieving laugh.
Apparently, Ryan wanted the same thing she did.
A clean break from the past.
Complete severance.
No ties whatsoever.
Pressing her lips together, Rose felt a dull ache forming in her temples.
Today was important.
Not being able to reach him naturally irritated her.
Suppressing her frustration, she called Owen.
As the chief assistant to the president of Kingswell Group, Owen was normally highly efficient.
