Rose spoke without raising her voice.
Her expression remained calm throughout, yet she made no effort to conceal the sharp, commanding aura radiating from her.
Especially given her height, she was practically looking down at Samantha.
That gaze made Samantha uneasy.
She couldn’t believe such a major upheaval had taken place at New Hope—so suddenly, and without the slightest warning.
Ryan hadn’t told her a single word.
Looking at Rose, Samantha’s expression grew colder by the second.
"Ryan wouldn’t agree to this."
Rose smiled faintly. "He’s already handed over management control. Does his approval even matter anymore? I’m not Mr. Knight. I treat everyone equally and judge people solely by their abilities. If the only way you can accomplish anything is by relying on special treatment, you’re welcome to run back to your dear Mr. Knight. After all, he’ll bail you out even if you’re completely incompetent."
Samantha’s expression darkened instantly.
Rose’s words were practically trampling her dignity into the ground.
They dismissed everything about her—her character, her reputation, and her abilities.
She couldn’t accept being humiliated by a "good-for-nothing" like Rose.
Rose had no interest in wasting any more time on her.
Turning to William, she said, "Let’s complete the handover first. As for the R&D department, Mr. William, handle it however you see fit."
Now that he understood the situation, William knew Rose would be his only superior from now on.
His position was crystal clear.
"Of course, President Bennett. This way, please."
Samantha watched helplessly as Rose was escorted into the office that had once belonged to Ryan.
She couldn’t accept it.
Rose had actually become her boss.
And on her very first day, she had gone out of her way to intimidate her.
Taking a deep breath, Samantha looked at the members of her team, whose expressions had become increasingly strange.
"Get back to work."
Then she turned away and called Ryan.
*****
The handover process went smoothly.
Had Samantha not caused a scene, it would have been finished even sooner.
Once the paperwork was finalized and officially stamped, Rose took the opportunity to familiarize herself with the company.
After all, New Hope now belonged solely to her.
It would be her stronghold in the future.
If managed properly, it could one day become a force capable of rivaling the Knight family.
As she rounded a corner, she unexpectedly overheard a conversation.
"Mr. William, who exactly is this President Bennett? How did she suddenly appear out of nowhere?"
"Yeah. And she even embarrassed Miss Hill in public. That’s pretty bold. Miss Hill has worked here for years and has never been treated like that."
William frowned.
"Don’t ask questions you shouldn’t be asking. Just remember that from now on, President Bennett is the person with the most authority in this company. Never underestimate her—you wouldn’t even dare guess who she really is."
The others became even more curious.
"What about Miss Hill?"
William sighed. "Things will remain the same as they’ve always been. After all, Miss Hill is still the person President Knight treasures most. Whatever happens between her and President Bennett is their business. Just do your jobs as usual. It might even work out in your favor."
No one knew what the future held.
What if Samantha really did rise to the top one day?
Who could say?
Rose remained where she was.
But she understood exactly what William meant.
On the surface, he sounded neutral.
In reality, he was weighing the pros and cons.
Perhaps deep down, he still believed Samantha held the advantage.
He believed Samantha might eventually replace her.
And the reason was simple.
Like everyone else, William believed Ryan didn’t love his legal wife.
A faint smile tugged at Rose’s lips.
Then she turned and took a different elevator.
*****
Rose drove out of the underground garage and happened to pass a Bentley.
It was Ryan’s car.
He had come to pick up Samantha.
Apparently, he had heard Samantha had been "wronged" today and had rushed over to comfort her.
Rose looked away without a second thought.
