“What are you doing here?” Ethan asked coldly. “You have no reason to be involved in today’s meeting.”

He clearly found Rose just as irritating as she found him.

She was sharp-tongued, stubborn, and nothing like the soft-spoken, agreeable woman he thought a wife in the Knight family should be.

“I approved her coming.”

Ryan’s voice cut through the room.

His dark eyes settled on Ethan.

“Do I need your permission?”

Rose listened silently.

The situation was worse than she’d expected.

Ethan immediately put on a modest expression.

“I only did what anyone in my position would have done.”

Then he looked toward Ryan.

“Honestly, I always believed you had everything under control. I never imagined something like this would happen.”

He sighed. “We’re in a difficult position now, and the money invested that night has already taken a significant hit. I don’t think the shareholders are going to accept this easily.”

Rose almost laughed.

Ethan looked like a concerned younger brother.

Alex nodded.

“I agree.”

He looked toward Ryan.

“I’ll help clean up the mess. You’re still young, Ryan. Consider this an opportunity to gain experience.”
