Trick Him Into Divorce, Then Flee With His Unknow Kid novel Chapter 477

Chapter 477: Chapter 477 The Things She Never Said

Ryan glanced at James.

The satisfaction on James’s face was impossible to miss.

If he was willing to say something like that so openly, it was probably true.

Ryan’s expression didn’t change.

"I’ll come with you to pick her up."

He didn’t question James further.

There was no reason to lose his composure over something he didn’t understand yet.

James gave a quiet scoff.

Ryan was certainly composed.

But having something like that lodged in the back of his mind was another matter entirely.

Only Ryan knew how much it bothered him.

James didn’t believe for a second that he was unaffected.

Rose had suffered because of Ryan.

And this was only the beginning.

"You want to come too?"

Rose turned around and looked him over.

"You’ve just gotten off an eight-hour flight. You’re still weak. You should stay here and rest."

"I’m fine."

Ryan gently touched his forehead.

Then he looked at her.

"As long as you’re with me, I’ll be fine."

He paused.

"I want to meet our daughter."

James stared at him.

Unbelievable.

The man had lost his memory, not his ability to manipulate a situation.

Every word was carefully chosen.

For a man who had once been known as the intimidating CEO of Kingswell, Ryan was getting remarkably good at looking helpless whenever Rose was around.

Rose didn’t notice James’s expression.

She understood Ryan’s reaction.

He had just learned that he had a daughter.

And he remembered nothing about her.

Of course he wasn’t going to sit quietly at home and wait.

"Fine."

She picked up her keys.

"But if you feel dizzy, get a headache, or feel worse in any way, you tell me immediately."

Ryan nodded.

"Okay."

James said nothing more.

Amnesia had given Ryan an unexpected opening.

But it had also left him facing something far more difficult.

He didn’t remember the things that had caused Rose pain.

He didn’t remember the choices he had made.

He didn’t even have the memories necessary to understand the person he had once been.

And yet he was being forced to confront the consequences of that person anyway.

Some things couldn’t be avoided simply because you couldn’t remember them.

Eventually, they still had to be faced.

*****

Rose drove Ryan to Ariel’s school.

After being away for so long, she had missed her daughter terribly.

At first, she’d planned to hide the real reason for her long absence.

But eventually, she’d softened.

She had told Ariel that Ryan had been seriously ill and needed treatment overseas.

She had even asked Ariel whether she wanted to send him a message to encourage him.

Ariel had always been exceptionally perceptive for her age.

She understood more than Rose sometimes expected.

At one point, she’d even asked Rose whether she should call Ryan "Dad."

Rose hadn’t forgotten that.

Perhaps hearing Ariel call him that really would mean something to Ryan.

Once they arrived, Rose parked near the school and turned to him.

"Be prepared."

Ryan looked at her.

"Ariel isn’t very familiar with you," Rose said honestly. "She knows that you and I didn’t have a good relationship in the past, so she probably won’t be especially close to you."

Ryan’s eyes flickered.

"We had problems in our marriage?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Rose glanced at him.

"You cheated on me."

Ryan went silent.

Then, almost immediately—

"That doesn’t sound right."

Rose raised an eyebrow.

Ryan frowned.

"I don’t think I’m the kind of man who would sleep around."

He sounded genuinely certain.

"I don’t like that kind of behavior. And I don’t tolerate dishonesty."

He paused.

"Even now, without my memories, I know what kind of person I am."

Rose almost laughed.

"You sound very confident."

"I am."

Then he looked at her.

"Was there someone else?"

Rose unfastened her seat belt.

"You think cheating only counts if there was a physical relationship?"

Ryan’s expression tightened.

Rose opened the car door.

"There are plenty of ways to betray someone."

Her tone was matter-of-fact.

She wasn’t angry.

That almost made it worse.

Ryan watched her.

The calmness in her voice made it sound as though she were talking about something that had happened to someone else.

As though it no longer mattered.

But Ryan couldn’t accept that.

"I’m sorry."

Rose paused.

His voice was quieter now.

"I’m sorry for everything I did that hurt you."

She looked back at him.

The apology seemed to have come from somewhere deeper than conscious thought.

It wasn’t polished.

It wasn’t strategic.

His voice actually trembled at the end.

Rose’s expression shifted almost imperceptibly.

She had waited a very long time to hear those words.

Ryan had never said them before.

Yes.

She had been hurt.
