“Alright. Let’s open a bottle then.”

I listened in as Nicholas answered Jasmine. The attendant was thrilled as a bottle of red wine was
expensive in this particular restaurant, and he would be able to gain a small commission.
He quickly called a waiter to send a bottle over, fully focused on serving such a wealthy customer wholeheartedly. With the attendant gone, Jasmine and Nicholas no longer held back with their words.
“Nick, you’ve been doing things with a high profile lately. Rumors about you getting back with Ariana have even reached my ear.”
Nicholas remained silent upon hearing that.
Jasmine continued, “But we’re a known couple by the public after all. You should at least break up with me gracefully if I have to go away. You can’t just allow the public to gossip behind my back.”
Nicholas had always treated Jasmine well. She was someone he had raised, after all. So, I was not the slightest bit surprised when Nicholas asked her about what she wanted him to do. Nicholas was always soft–hearted toward the people he cared about.
“There will be a final dinner for the variety show. There will be a lot of people there, and there will be more viewers than usual. I want you to attend the dinner with me to dispel certain rumors.
“Then when I go abroad, we can officially break up‘ due to the long distance.”
Hearing her words did not stir up any emotions within me. However, Douglas could not stand it anymore.
He got up, wanting to head over to the private room next door, but I quickly blocked his way and placed an arm on his shoulder, shoving him back.
“I don’t care,” I said softly.
Douglas downed his drink in anger and slammed his glass down on the table. He was also feeling helpless
How much disappointment has Ariana faced for her to tell him that she did not care? He swore to himself that he would never compliment Nicholas in front of Ariana again.
He had believed he would be able to amend their relationship, but he never thought that his good intentions would backfire on him.
Jasmine chuckled shyly as her voice sounded out, “Hey, to the couple next door, aren’t you being too excited? You’re out in public, not back in your room.”
Once we were outside, Douglas took a deep breath. His expression was dark as he said, “What nonsense was that woman speaking about? What did she mean by dispelling the rumors between you and Mr. Hawk?
“I’ve decided on your behalf that you must attend that dinner. You should go and let her know what is real and what is false!”
I hadn’t decided on the dinner, but Douglas‘ words did make me curious. I was curious as to who Nicholas would choose if he saw me there. Hence, I agreed to attend the dinner and waved him goodbye.
My situation with Nicholas could be put on hold, but I had to get to the bottom of Yasmine’s situation tonight. I would not be able to sleep until I got to the bottom of it.
So, I took a cab to her place, but before I could knock on the door, the door swung open from the in
inside.
Yasmine was standing side–by–side with a man, and it looked like they were about to head out. As for the man in question, he looked oddly familiar.

What the hell??? The lead character's train of thought and reasoning is too annoying for a successful and brilliant lawyer. WTF....
The leads were supposed to be successful in their fields, but were presented as stupid. So unbearable....
