Chapter 127 Exchanging Numbers
“Don’t mention it. Guess we’re acquaintances now,” Lucas said with an easy smile.
“Kyle mentioned on the way in that you’re the top–rated instructor here.

“Usually, someone with your skills and age would aim for an airline captain’s seat. What made you choose to stay here as a trainer?” Arabella looked at him, a little curious.
A relaxed smile touched Lucas‘ lips. “My priorities are different from most pilots.
“I don’t love the idea of flying the same scheduled routes day in, day out. I prefer the freedom of general aviation and choosing my own flights.”
“Oh? I wouldn’t have pegged you for such a free spirit,” Arabella remarked, smiling slightly.
Lucas glanced over as she smiled–it was as lovely as a sudden bloom.
He found himself staring, momentarily captivated.
“Eyes on the road,” Arabella reminded him as the car drifted slightly toward the lane divider.
Lucas quickly refocused, correcting the steering wheel.
“Sorry about that. Did I startle you?” he said, sounding genuinely apologetic.
“It’s fine,” Arabella replied.
“Here, have some water.” Lucas handed her an unopened bottle from the console.
“Thanks.” She accepted it.
“What did you do before this? What made you decide to start flight training?” Lucas asked, his curiosity about her growing.
“I’m a physician. My brother thought I should learn,” Arabella said without evasion.
After all, it was no secret now that she practiced medicine.
“A doctor? No wonder you said you didn’t need a referral earlier.
“I completely missed that. How could I not realize you were a doctor? And here I was trying to recommend one to you…” Lucas said, feeling a bit foolish for not picking up on it.
Arabella smiled. “It’s alright. If you could tell I was a doctor at a glance, you’d have a real gift.”
“Fair point.”
“So, what’s your specialty?” Lucas asked, even more intrigued.
“I practice an integrative approach,” Arabella replied.
“You must be younger than me, right? How are you so accomplished already?” Lucas looked at her with genuine surprise.

“It’s not that remarkable. I had excellent mentors,” Arabella said modestly.

“That’s impressive! Not only are you brilliant, but you’re also humble. You might be the most down–to–earth person I’ve met.” Lucas couldn’t help but praise her.
“Not really,” Arabella said, mildly surprised that Lucas–who had seemed so arrogant at the academy–now felt so natural and easy to talk to.
“Dr. Hamilton, would you mind exchanging numbers?” Lucas asked smoothly.
“What for?” Arabella looked at him with a hint of caution.
Noticing her wariness, Lucas smiled and explained, “No hidden agenda, I promise.
“It’s just a coincidence running into you today, and you’re clearly an exceptional doctor–far more impressive than any of my other contacts in medicine. I’d like to stay in touch.
“Who knows, maybe someday I’ll need a brilliant doctor’s advice,” he added.
Arabella considered him. That seemed reasonable enough.
“Alright then, I’ll add you.”
Lucas unlocked his phone and handed it to her. “Hard to do while driving. Would you mind putting your number in?”
“Sure.”
“Done. I’ll leave your phone here,” Arabella said, placing it back in the cup holder.
“Okay.”
“Dr. Hamilton, are you based at Kindwell Hospital?” Lucas asked.
“In a way, yes,” Arabella said. After all, she was currently seeing a patient there regularly.
Lucas nodded in understanding.
As they chatted, Lucas‘ car pulled up to the main entrance of Kindwell Hospital.
“Here we are. Thanks for the ride,” Arabella said, offering a grateful smile.
“Anytime.”
“I’ll head in now. See you.” With that, Arabella opened the door and stepped out.
Lucas watched as she walked through the automatic doors before pulling away from the curb.
Arabella made her way to Edward’s private room.
She was about to push the door open when she heard Freya’s sharp, scolding voice from inside.
“Edward, you need to stand up for your sister!
“Arabella is trouble! Not only did she come between you and Harper, but she hit her!
